Just thinking that, with Brooks being out, we’ve not got a natural replacement for Duffy should he get injured, or sub’d.

Could Thomas play a similar role?

It could give us a tricky AM who’s quicker than Duffy AND he loves a shot from distance looking back at his highlight reel from his Hartlepool days.

Sharper edge to our knife perhaps, if given time to “get” it.

Just a thought.

He's an obvious impact player. He should usually get a place on the bench - including next Friday.

Very different player to Duffy though. But could come on in place of him sometimes.

I doubt it. Wilder had an oppertunity to praise Thomas for the goal but decided to say how great the senior players in the squad were today.

I think Nathan is on his way out, which is a shame. Not sure what he has done wrong to be barely making the first team.

There’s no doubting Thomas... ;)

Noticed that as well. On his way out on loan maybe?

Really hope to see more of him. A raw talent that needs game time.

I think on his way out perminantly. A bit disrepectful of Wilder to not even acknowledge his goal cosidering it won the match and put us in the next round.

Wingers don't really fit our formation so he's had to adapt his game. But Brooks' emergence has put him down the pecking order. I think he has the potential to be a replacement for Duffy, and I'd have him on the bench ahead of Lavery.

It would have helped if the Radio Pig presenter had done his job and pressed CW on why Thomas came off at half time. Was he injured? CW seemed very keen to praise his replacement Slater. Chezzy fans think Thomas is lined up for a loan to them.

I wouldn't read into Wilder not saying anything about the goal to be honest, while we were all picking ourselves up off the floor after some of Brooksy's early performances he was in interviews just going on about how he's not the finished article. Probably doesn't want him to take his foot of the gas and think he's made it now.

I don't think he fits the Duffy role. For me Thomas is one of those players you send on at 70 minutes and just tell them to make like an arrow straight for goal, either running, dribbling or shooting,at every opportunity. Most of them won't come off, but those that do could make all the difference.

Duffy is a linking player, someone with a more nuanced, tricky approach to get other players in on goal, or provide a cross for the strikers. Very different, and obviously Duffy is a favourite and rightly so. Still think we would benefit from bringing on Nathan Thomas a bit more often though.

While ever Brooks is out, Thomas for me is the obvious replacement as an impact sub.

Like Brooks, he offers something different that no one else can provide however good they may be in their particular roles, and sometimes that's what's needed.

Remember a certain Paul Peschisolido ?

If he was on his way out he wouldn’t have played at all today. What Wilder says in from of the cameras and what he says in the changing room is completely different.

I expect at least two that started today won’t be with us come Feb 1, be it loan or permanent exits. If Thomas isn’t expected to feature much till May (even after today he still needs to dislodge some very good players to get a look in) he will be one of those.

Spot on that. You obviously understand your football.

Must admit, I was surprised he didn't get a mention, very unWilderlike.

It's true that Duffy doesn't shoot enough. Thomas shoots too much!! Mavrick, great as a sub.

Can just see Brooks and Thomas coming on with 20 minutes to go!

When asked he seemed to sidestep that one didn’t he ?

Wilder did say it was a good /great goal. I think Thomas would be good to come on for last ten mins if we were after a goal because hes more like Brooks as a player. Hes no Duffy though. Duffy is way cleverer, mind you, he is our smartest player!

Agreed, I thought it was very unusual.

Still be duffy ahead, probably should of gone on loan, if we sign Kent I can see him going out on loan.

Getting another clubs winger on loan when our own winger hasn’t done anything wrong on the pitch.

I guess his face just doesn’t fit.

Or he's not considered ready yet. When he signed it was said he was a work in progress.
