I've thought him to be a decent player in the past. Solid, good physically, decent technically and takes a decent set piece.

Not a bad one to add permanently but he'd seem more like an alternative to Leonard.

It's entirely possible we looked at him as a back up, if we didn't get Leonard and Daily Mail were just a bit slow... It wouldn't be the first time.

We’ve had to play Basham, Lafferty and Carruthers at centre mid in recent weeks. Signing another is a good idea. The weakest link will probably leave on loan at the end of the year as we’ll have 5 fighting for 1 position.

I’d prefer we signed a number 10 and got rid of Carruthers though

Apparently he been pushed further forward and has played v well this and last season but cannot get anywhere near wolves team as they have so much talent.
Not afraid to put a foot in, great work ethic and passing ability, likes to dictate play.
So sounds a mixture of Leonard and lundstram.
If it comes off, we have Fleck, lundstram, Leonard and him available for two central midfield spots unless Wilder sees him pushing Duff for the no. Ten spot? As I say latest seems to be that he enjoys getting forward and dictating, but must have something as welsh international.

I’d be surprised if this goes ahead, unless we’re looking to sell both Carruthers and Whiteman (Darren Ferguson hinted at the latter in his post match interview today). Came off the bench for his senior Wales debut in the recent Panama match where Brooks made his full debut.

CW said a few weeks ago before the Giddings misinformation tweet he was looking at four in, a CB, 2 midfielders and a forward.

Fleck, Coutts, Duffy, Lundstram, Leonard, Evans, Brooks, Thomas....that's quite a formidable midfield cadre if you ask me. Still quite young with a good range of styles and abilities. Further backup from Basham and of course Slater going forward.

It definitely looks like Carruther's days are numbered though, or he may be out on loan I suspect.

That's what I think's happened here.

He was pulled out of the game at Bournemouth today must be something going on for that to happen when he was down to play.
Wilder did say we were a midfielder short before Coutts got crocked so we now are up to par which means either Whiteman goes back to Doncaster or Carruthers is going ,interesting times .
