A bumper crowd of over 20,000 will throng to Bramall Lane tonight for the Blades' crucial play-off semi-final second leg

Club chiefs have hailed the 'phenomenal demand' as proof that United deserve their place in the Premier League of English football

The astonishing ticket sales come just days after almost 2,000 Blades fans made the trip to Preston for the first leg

Former Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell is staggered by the massive interest in the game

"Considering Elland Road is just a few miles up the road, it's staggering that we can pull 20,000 to the Lane

"You take it for granted that a club like Leeds will have hundreds of thousands of fans take an interest when a Premier League place is up for grabs, but Bramall Lane will have 23, maybe as many as 24,000 fans packed in tonight, that's not to be sniffed at."

It is thought the crowd might be swelled by Yorkshire football fans who were unable to lay their hands on prized tickets for Leeds United's forthcoming play-off clash with Millwall. With 38,000 tickets sold in a matter of hours, tens of thousands of fans are known to have missed out and Bramall Lane bosses hope to benefit from disappointed fans

A ticket office spokesman appealed to unlucky Leeds fans, "There's still thousands of tickets available priced at just $16 or $20. If you couldn't get a ticket for the big Leeds game, why not come along and watch the Blades? We could do with your support"

Jealousy is a terrible thing :)

Who's this Leeds United? Never heard of em'.

I know we have a special relationship with America, but I wasn't aware we had formally adopted their currency.

Did someone sneak this in without informing me?

Quite funny. Mind you, where were all the Leeds fans in the regular season?

Sheffield United had an average over the season of 26023, which represents a percentage of 79.8 of their ground filled.

Leeds United, a single-team city of 761,100, managed an average of 23,814, which is of course lower than that of their Sheffield rivals despite them having a larger catchment area, and them being a so-called 'big team'. This represents a percentage of 59.2 of their ground filled.

If we're talking catchment areas and cities, by the way, there are some interesting stats here. Sheffield has two league teams, and a population of 530,300, which divided by the two teams gives each a catchment population of 265,150. This means that the Blades managed to attract ten percent of their potential catchment population to their matches over the season.

Leeds, on the other hand, have a catchment population of 761,100. Their average attendance of 23,814 represents just over 3 percent of their potential catchment area.

Game, set and I think match, too.

Yeah... but what population of Leeds' bin dipping scrubbers are currently detained at Her Majesty's pleasure... clinging on to the thought of their "massive club" for comfort while they're being anally raped silly by Sausage Sid and his mob?

You must have we played them off the park a few years ago, back when they thought they were the biggest team in yorkshire, they got a right old spanking.

Then a terrible thing happened to them the lost all money because they weren't as good as they thought they were, soon all teams were spanking them as they dropped down through the leagues, luckily they thought by selling their ground, training ground and anything of any value things would be OK. It wasn't they are still shite. And everyone still hates them as much as ever

Good point, Linz, if a little prurient ;)

I just like to paint a vivid picture.

Someone ought to tell barry that you can get "long time love" inside for $16... apparently.

Maybe the $$$$$ is subconcious wishful thinking of American Investment!

I particularly liked the expression 'passed around like a box of chocolates'. It's now my second favourite after 'passed around like currency'.

I think maybe barry was considered the "coffee cream" of the selection.

Left, unloved and lonely, slowly getting furry before being thrown away.

That's why he wants to come on here... craving attention and just asking to be slapped down like the little bitch he so longs to be.

While I will never feel your pain barry, I do sympathise.

This number may help 08457 90 90 90 and they do promise not to laugh.

Now where is SEB when things like this happen? He'll regret not being here later on. :nono:

Wow. Sheff U fans are REALLY unfunny!

You set the standard I'm afraid...

We retain our best stuff for people who come on here and really make an effort at failure. It just seems to come too naturally to you.

Also if I remember rightly their fans were not too pleased but were kind enough to do some ground improvements for us for free by removing the old wooden seats in our away end.

I've only just been down for our tickets, our season ticket seats are sold, as were seats around them (south stand). Asked for seats near a family member on the Kop, sold out. Seats further down the Kop near a friend also sold out. Settled for the family stand in the end.

Each time I asked for tickets she said that there was no seats near, whether that means the entire block was sold out or just the seats either side I don't know, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't sell out.

Anyway, I want to know if barry enjoyed his trip to the Den... because he wouldn't come on here talking about a lack of paying fans if he just stayed at home and watched it on Sky would he?

That would surely make him a... hypocrite.

I had my car cleaned, polished and wax over the weekend, and when I got to work the dirty pigeons were waiting for me with a wicked glint in their eye. While it was dirty last week they never went near it.

Why do the socially inept always wait until I've left the premises before embarking on a public exposure of their inadequacies? Human pigeons just out to spoil my fun!

It's because he typed "throng" and then felt all frisky... he's gone to have a cold shower (watch that slippy soap barry!) and a lie down.

I'm afraid the police only allowed 1,000 away fans to be present, so LUFC made it a loyalty game and only fans who'd attnded 18 or more away games were invited to apply

Sheff U won't have 1000 fans who've been to 18 away games in a season

Took nearly 2,000 to Preston I hear? Had an away ticket office open at the ground?

I'd love to support a club whose away tickets were so readily available. We sell out everywhere we go and tickets are only available to registered members who've paid the £35 fee

So you're admitting you're a plastic barry... congratulations.

Plastic and a tight-wad... just gets better and better.

Still, when Leeds are back in Europe (chortle) where they so obviously belong (guffaw), then at least you'll be able to watch them on TV some more. But be warned, you might have to spend some money on a bigger fridge to keep all your Skol in.

We'll ignore the fact that 1000 extra people travelled on a Friday night and that you've got such a reputation for being scrubbers that they only let 1000 travel on a Saturday.

Inaccurate facts always work well for the less educated I see.

When your playing in a league thats average attendance is 7553 I can't see that you take many to away games really.

and to pay £35 for the 'honour' of paying for away tickets is just a joke, like Leeds in many ways :D

And I'll bet it went straight to big fat Ken

Not at all. It's just that I support a club whose demand for away tickets means tens of thousands miss out each fortnight. I get away tickets as and when I'm successful, but our away season ticket holders take up the allocation for several games a season.

I think you should ignore the fact you took 1000 more to Preston than we took to Millwall, given the circumstances

Errm. I'm not sure what to say to this

We sell out our away allocation every game, the average attendance in the division has no bearing on this fact

But what would I know, I'm 'less educated', so I'm sure there's a complex mathematical principle underpinning your point, whatever that might be

Hahahhahaha

Are you Ken Bates?

Anyway, why didn't you come on here shouting your mouth off when you got docked point for cheating? :D

Are there really that many chavs in West Yorkshire? Ah no, silly me, the reputation of the Waccoe's means that chavs from the whole of the north like to join this Thugfest! Must make the city really proud, knowing that it's a focal point for all degenerates to gravitate toward?

TENS OF THOUSANDS? Why don't they all go in the home ends? i'm sure most league one clubs aren't all that organised as to stop that sort of thing.

How much is the average admission price of league one clubs by the way?

You can't even sell 40% of your home tickets, bit poor wouldn't you say for such a massive club?

How much does it cost you to get on the advance sales for the play off final? You know, that one that you've not even qualified for yet.
