Anybody access to 'Assist' stats? - for us and prospective signings?

The way we play we should see Baldock, Stevens and O'Connell weighing in with a fair number of assists.

and not the killer pass before the assist unfortunately
No, I’m not aware that they bother collecting such a stat. There are loads of passing stats, average passes per game, completed passes, key passes that lead to a shot, through balls, crosses. I find them quite illuminating about our players.

The pass before the assist may or may not be a killer ball. To take an example, who passed to Brooksy before he made that superb ball through to Clayton for the winner at Sunderland? No idea.

'Assists' are the final passes which create the goal.

So one of the best goals I've ever seen (Pesch v Forest, play-off semi second leg in 2003) would count as an assist by Paddy Kenny as he was the last player to pass before Pesch took 7/8 touches to score?

It's all getting silly. The latest is 'Expected Goals'.

Of course there are anomalies in any statistics but trends set over a period.

Take a look at the Premier League top assist makers; no goalkeepers or bad players in that list:

9 - DeBruyne.

8 D.Silva
Sane.

7 -Mahrez
Pogba

6- Coutinho
Azpilicueta
Ramsey
Eriksen
Alli
Albrighton.

5 Willian
Shaqiri
Ritchie
Grob
Rashford
Mkhitaryan
Gudmondsson
Ozil
Salah

"Assists" actually only ever come from Americans.

How many does CCV have ?

It's all about how you look at it.

For the majority, assists are intended passes, and you often find by the more creative players (see Woodwardfans list). Of course you'll get some by a keeper, or even by fluke, but for the most part I think it's a useful stat to gauge over a long period of games.

As an example, take Donaldsons brilliant cross to Clarke the other day. If he did that regularly it's a noteworthy stat to have, who wouldn't want a player that regularly creates such goals?

The stats should include the assists that result in missed open goals and hitting the woodwork
Yes, creative players can have their stats ruined by profligate strikers or enhanced by prolific ones. I read a good article on how Siggurdsson's stats were skewed by Llorente's effectiveness in the air, particularly at set pieces. Essentially all he had to do was stick the ball on Llorente's head and he scored.
