Whiteman returns

Is Whiteman's return to provide extra cover in the light of the latest reports on Brooksy's illness? He would potentially be a source of goals as a second-half sub.

Whiteman coming back spells that we've not got some of our targets over the line that Wilder was talking about in December as wanting to do early business. Maybe the intention is to send him back to Donny later in the month if we get in our targets, Leonard is obviously one of them.

I was hoping we'd have some early business done as Wilder wanted but it doesn't look like we succeeded and it'll be down to the last week as ever! That's my half glass full prediction!

More like the only cover as I think we've seen the last of Carruthers and I wouldn't like to see a repeat of Bash's midfield experiment.

I agree, he will be a better option than bash in midfield, Unfortunately carruthers hasn't done enough and Brooks is out for the foreseeable future, smart move to bring him back.

An indicator of Wilder's concerns about the options available during the window. Unlikely getting Whiteman back was one of the bits of business he wanted to get done early.

Most definetly ,i can see Wilder resigning, seeing as we are treading water in the Championship, the boardroom is split,no money for players,we are doomed

Pinchy has just turned a deep shade of puce :(

I imagine we've recalled him to send him elsewhere (presumably Sarthend).

Just a quiet chuckle actually. The in-depth analysis from our experts on a player most of them have seen perhaps twice. The idea that Wilder needs to have a look at him and, of course, hasn’t had someone doing precisely that during his loan spell. Any suggestion that he’s not been playing well batted away with feeble Bladey excuses.

Priceless.

you’ve seen him more than twice??
been doing secret scouting missions Pinch? ;)

Considering Whiteman scored his hat-trick vs Southend wonder what the chances are of him being thrown into the Leonard deal? Either that or as some have said he's to replace Carruthers in the squad as can't see him featuring for us again this season.

Or is it a sign we are selling Carruthers?

Not to be argumentative but what is wilder doing if not having look at him in and around our squad with better calibre of midfielders than donny?

Not suggesting he hasn’t been keeping up to date with his performances but why not keep him there if he’s not up to scratch or could contribute anything?

Only thing I can think of is bargaining chip or 4th choice midfielder given our injuries and loss of form

Shouldn't have allowed him to play in the FA Cup then should we...

If we are recalling Whiteman as cover does that suggest we are not expecting to sign any midfield cover?

Hopefully, I think Carrurthers needs a move. His head just doesn't look in it to me, I guess he feels on the sidelines and not wanted as much as he'd like.

I also think he could do a job at rwb until Freeman recovers, better than bash anyway. Leave him at rcb

I don't think many of us commenting on our loanees have claimed to be experts on them. Welcoming the fact that some of United's employees are apparently making some progress seems is a reasonable response, and I merely asked the question whether Whiteman could be an extra body to provide some cover for Brooks illness. And while I am sure they are all watched regularly, Wilder is big on character, and having a player around all week is surely different from just observing them in matches elsewhere. These are not feeble Bladey excuses.

Whiteman was always going to come back for a short period. It was only a 6 month loan and its common sense to have a look at him for a few weeks to see how he has progressed. Wolves did the same with EEL last year. He'll probably go out on loan at the end of the window again unless he looks a world beater in training. Useful to have him around whilst we are trying to prise Leonard away from Southend, he did score a hat trick against them. Don't think it has anything to do with transfer budget just CW sensibly adding to his options in the short term and having a good look at our own player.

Or, lets believe our manager:-

"We've monitored him closely this season and now we want to have a closer look at him and see exactly where he is at in terms of his development. We've also got to make sure we've got competition and depth in our squad between now and the end of the campaign."

Sorry Addison. Stopped reading at common sense. That'll never work on here, although our medical experts are busy on the Brooks thread at the moment.

Frederick,
I get a distinct sense that you enjoy being a contrary, contradictictory & argumentative fellow.
I'll wager that you indulge in exuberant celebration on the (rare) occasion that your chosen Association Football Club actually achieves something ( scoring goals, winning games, gaining promotion & the like) - horrendously bad form in my opinion
May I request that you desist forthwith ?
Thanks awfully
