One manager got his tactics and team selection spot on, the other got it wrong it’s as simple as that.

We then had no plan B.

Bolton deserved the win, we were awful on the day, but we have clearly been better than them throughout the season so far and I have no doubt we will prove to be better than them throughout the rest of the season.

We need to strengthen in January, whether we do or not is another matter,

Stearman had a very good game up until the formation change - as much as i'm a Jake Wright fan, he'd have made no difference today. If you want to blame anyone, blame CCV for falling back on his heels yet again for the goal. Basham also had his worst game under Wilder.
Jake used to calmly mop things up and play simple passes out of defence

If stearman played so well today how come (madine who was on his own up front )had the freedom of the park today ?

That doesn’t fit the agenda I’m afraid. Your common sense and balance is commendable and a welcome change from the knee-jerking lunacy all around us. The forum has fallen victim to St. Vitus Dance.

Madine got a tap in and scored while Leon missed his.
Always going to be an ugly physical game where we had to get the basics right first.
We didn't and they did.
Poor end to a great year UTB!
Happy New Year Blades.. Exiting times ahead.

The ball was in front of the cart horse. He couldn’t miss. Leon’s was behind him when his momentum was all going forward. There was no comparison.

Absolutely should not have dropped Baldock from starting 11 , Let the worry about of strengths than us trying to counter there’s lost a vital supply line there today and looked a lot better when he came on I think we’ll need cover there in the JTW if Baldock keeps getting the knocks

Can’t stress enough how important that first goal is at our place as that is the key ,credit to them came with a game plan & Parkinson matched them 352 and they won the individual battles .

We need a few more faces in to give more options so hopefully we get what CW wants , let’s be honest it’s been a tremendous 12 months who could have seen us top 6 in the Championship?

A year ago we were beating Northampton. 1-0 with a last minute winner

We’re cap-doffing fucking Bolton now! Unbelievable. Some of you won’t be happy until we’re hoofing again. For the record they weren’t “superb”. They were awful, grotesque, horrible. They were committing fouls every challenge. That’s not commitment or ‘hard play’. It’s outside the laws of the game and the useless fucking ref bought it every time.

It’s our job to overcome anti-football and we failed. That’s fair enough. But applauding the shite they substitute for football is shameful.

True colours showing in S2.

Absolute bollocks as usual.

You know sweet FA about football and live in some parallel universe where only pretty passing football is played.

There are a plethora of teams across the planet who play similarly and guess what, whether you like it or not, it's legal and the job of the manager and players to find a way to counter it.

Cap doffing my arse. It's acknowledgement of a team that did it's homework, worked ridiculously hard pressing us high up the pitch, and won more 50/50's and spare ball.

Even the cunt Madine deserves some recognition for his performance.

They did a decent job on us whether you like their style of play or not, and we were as poor as we've been for a while.

As for constantly fouling, you must have missed us doing the same too often.

Not sure if this counts as credit but madine was at his cuntish cuntiness best, the cunt

And so did Stearman, Madine didn't particularly control anything from what i saw, but he is very strong on the ball.

Last year when we beat them it was a triumph for our football over their hoof....now they have got stronger and dirtier and more cunning but our football has gone off the boil and we were looking a bit lost today

Indeed. I agree with that. None of it is any credit to ‘superb’ fucking Bolton, though. There’s a reason they are in the relegation struggle. Unfortunately they’re bringing out the latent but ever-present love for hoof amongst our ‘fans’.

Bolton, for the record, are fucking rubbish. A disgrace to football. They got the win today but ultimately they will fail.

I know a great deal more about football than you, kid. You haven’t a fucking clue. You’re an S2 cap-doffer of the highest order.

Now behave yourself.

Bolton had one chance and scored. We had two glorious chances and missed both. Don't get me wrong, they closed us down well and we were awful. But we still Could've won the game so I'm loathed to praise a team who had one chance and won.

We didn’t play well today, as we never do when a team is in our face - QPR, Preston etc. Reason is that we try to play thoughtful football but we don’t have players with quick enough minds. We need that extra touch to think, which top players don’t. We are OK when teams sit back giving us time to think, but our rhythm falls apart when we have no time.

Having said that we should still have won today as we made enough chances - finishing was just wayward all game.

Totally agree with you there unfortunately we replicated them for half an hour.
Even on an off day when we played our passing game we were always in control

United can't cope when a team has two banks of four sitting deep. You can't get round them and you can't get over them. So you have to go through them. This is where Coutts' absence is noticeable, with his interplay with Duffy. This is also Lundstram's shortcoming, his brain doesn't work quick enough.

As the BBC game statistics show. Nobody in their right mind would suggest we were great today, but cap-doffing fucking Bolton for playing park football? Dear, oh dear.

Pinchy, you are a bit of a prick at times!

Maybe, but I’ve been watching football (and the Blades in particular) for 55 years and on nearly 90 grounds. I knew how to play football and I know how it should be played. I don’t take lectures from cap-doffing hoofers who admire fucking Bolton!

Did well did Madine, sadly. Held it up and made it uncomfortable for our back lads. That said I thought Stearman was excellent again.

Unsure about the goal, slip from CCV which happens but Bash didn’t read it all - in fact it was very poor from him, he should know better than getting caught square on like that. He was much better at CB to be fair to him.

I have been watching United for 64 years, and I find that there are people of all ages whose views I respect, and people of all ages whose views I do not respect. Respect is not an entitlement, but something which needs to be earned, and I would suggest that being polite to those we disagree with is one way of earning respect.
I agree with you that Bolton were awful to watch, but I was impressed by their work-rate and ability to see through a game-plan. It will never win them the Champions League, but it could help them avoid relegation.

The difference in the two teams was that when they had the ball in our half we stood and watched them
When we had it in their half they closed us down and got in our faces

We stood and watched most of the game! I thought our movement was really poor all over the pitch, laboured almost. At throw ins in particular, no one moved whatsoever! Really frustrating to watch a dog shit side like Bolton defend in numbers with 2/3/4 players surrounding whoever was on the ball for us, whack it upfield and still manage to win. Like you say, they got in our faces, totally outmuscled us on 95% of challenges! Pissed me off no end.....

Can't knock Bolton today. Everyone knows they're a poor footballing side and we knew exactly what to expect but couldn't deal with it. They are awful to watch but to be honest with their finances it's their only chance to survive.

They were much better than I thought they would be opening half an hour and played 'some' football. Indeed the only decent move of the match (save the one Clarke missed) they scored from. It was a well made goal. I felt if anything we were not ready for them to actually move it around in midfield and play a bit through midfield. It was not all route one. After they scored it was more direct but they had something tok hold onto.

I will be honest I do not think they were as horrible and anto football as many are saying. They may be most weeks but today? We played as much long ball up to Clarke as they did Madine today. Norwich and other sides were far more negative. Even second half Moore had as many saves to make as their lad. One.
