Why is he not at the heart of that defence? The team that was impregnable last season was Moore/Bash/JOC/Jake, why fuck about with what is outstanding?

Stearman had his fucking hand up shouting for offside when he was he was playing them all on by 5 yards, that simply would not have happened with Wright back there, he controls the movement of the back 3 like no other player we have. Don't get it Chris.

Stearman partly af fault for the goal but in general he did well tonight. Probably his best performance for us and I like the look of him with the ball at his feet. Nothing against Jake Wright, mine. Just some perspective.

I don't blame Stearman for that. Another one of their players was offside but not interfering. If you want to criticise, who was marking Flint? It was usually O'Connell but he was completely free.

I thought Stearman was much improved. He made a couple of mistakes second half and was lucky to atone for them, but he seemed for the first time to get into the swing of being part of the team. We play an unusual way, it must take time to bed in.

I have to be honest but from what I have seen of Stearman so for this season does not impress me. He does not look that comfortable in a back 3.

I just assume its a struggle for Wright to play every match. Plus we spent a fair wedge of money on Richard.

For me wright has to start at Preston if only to allow basham to move into midfield.

I'd agree with the above, I can't see what Stearman offers over wright. Slightly more mobile but wright's positional sense makes up for that and we lose that organisation at the back that wright gives bash and joc

Stearmans record..

Started 5

Won 1

Lost 4.

Just saying.

Maybe he is only getting games out of sentiment perhaps?

There's a couple of players out there tonight with similar stats. Part of it is bad luck, of course, but they have to have a look at themselves too.

CCV will be back.

Wright and Stearman can’t play in the same back three.

Stearman had a good game and not only organised the defence but showed his professional experience on a number of occasions. The player at fault for their second was Stevens who looked away and started to move out of the box before the ball came in. But how unlucky that their bloke thrashing at the ball as we put a block tackle in shoul£ see it fall to Flint.
But all in all a great performance, from a great team with a great manager, never felt more positive about an SUFC team giving value for money entertainment since the days of Harry.
If your a blade, then be positive if not, you know where Hillsborough is. What more do some people want !

Disagree, everyone stepped out apart from Stearman, if had Flint was yards offside.

I knew the disingenuous Jakies would find a way to pretend that Stears didn’t have a good game.

Another loss to add to his ever growing number of losses when he starts.

If we switch to a back four I think you would see a far better player in Strearman.

If we stick with a back three then I would have Wright every time in the centre role, Stearman just does not read the game as well and doesn’t hold the line correctly.

i like your bombastic posts Pinchy as i find them quite refreshing
but you are backing the wrong horse with this one mate.. have we won a game yet with Franco Stearman on the pitch?

we want jake back in the team.. no need to quote the ‘go to Hillsborough’ nuke option for that really is there?

2+2=5. People were saying exactly the same about Old Runaround, the Rochdale player.

The Shakey’s favourite is on his way out. Not because of what I think, of course. Why do you think Tufty leaves him out?

At all events he won’t be featuring much going forward and he’ll be moved on next Summer. The Shakey Jakies can have a little tantrum and then go and watch him at his next club in the lower reaches. We’ll cope without them them, I’m sure.

There is when it involves a disingenuous and nasty campaign against Richard Stearman.

Wilder is making these selection decisions. Has he suddenly become a bad manager?

Bollox to these 'established Championship players' every fucker wanted us to sign before the season started.

Be it Stearman, CCV, Blackman or whoever, it's easier to slate a player than put your head above the parapet and openly criticise Wilder.

Apart from playing them onside for the winner and giving the ball away sloppily on a couple of clearances that set up chances for them, he was great. Fair enough he cleared up after his own cock-up, but that's the kind of thing Nick Montgomery would be crucified for by some.

Fleck did nowt wrong apart from getting sent off and killing our chances of winning. I wouldn't say he had a good game as a result.
