Jon Stead is bound to score... get money on it!

On-topic discussion for the visit of Ipswich.

We should never have sold him. Hes still only young, works hard and scores goals. Just what we need!

i had my reservations of coming onto this forum, believing that it will be full of idiots just moaning about things and giving no reasons. I was wrong.

I agree completely with your statement above,

Not full, no.
I was wrong.
And not entirely true there either.:D:D:D

Back to the matter of Stead, then i think it's a shame he went. I wasn't exactly in favour of his signing, but he played very well in his time for us. I'd have preferred to have got rid of Webber before Stead.

Haven't you heard... we're where the "happiest of happy clappers" congregate if you listen to what the other forums say about us ;)

Unfortunately I was dragged along to see Ipswich today. Stead was their best player but the rest were very poor. They aren't playing football like Ipswich teams are known for. We should and better had, win this one!

Just so you know... it is being incorrectly reported elsewhere that Halford will be suspended for this game.

The five booking limit is only until the end of February. Those who receive 10 bookings before the second Sunday in April will then be suspended.

This may the first time that Blackwell has to choose between O'Toole Quinn and Monty, at least if he goes back to a 4-2-4. Not sure we will see the same flair if O'Toole is the one to sit. Nice to see Hendrie back in training as last year we were running out of players by the last game at Southampton.

So what are people thinking for this one then?

What's all this on another site that we will have players missing because they have 5 yellow cards??? I thought all that was past???

February 28th was the amnesty for 5 yellow cards. The one for 10 is the 12th of April I think. The closest to 10 is Stephen Quinn with 6 I think. After the amnesty for 10, it moves to 15 cards before suspension I believe.

Yep... 5 yellow cards would have been a one match ban.

10 yellow cards by April is a 2 match ban.

15 yellow cards by some other date that I can't remember is a 3 match ban

Naughty double-post

Team news from OS:

Both teams will have to play the waiting game before the Blades take on Ipswich Town on Saturday, with Kevin Blackwell having to take into account the condition of his players who have been on International duty:

"We need to check on Gary Naysmith and Jamie Ward on Friday - Gary has played twice this week so we'll need to check on him particularly.

"John-Joe O'Toole has a bit of a niggle in his knee and although he did some training on Thursday he wasn't convincing. Hopefully, he will be alright in 24 hours.

"We won't be able to consider Sun Jihai because his slight knee strain will take another week or so."

Ipswich Town winger Luciano Civelli will not return to action until the New Year after undergoing extensive surgery on his right knee.

Town are waiting to hear from the Tottenham physio staff before knowing if on-loan Giovani Dos Santos will be fit, and Town are waiting on the fitness of David Wright who is recovering from a hamstring injury.

Gareth McAuley is doubtful after being forced off with an injury while playing for Northern Ireland on Wednesday.

Isn't that the same thing ;)

It's nailed on that Stead will score, and I still think he didn't have enough of a chance.

I'll settle for his goal to be an own goal though :D
I thought Stead played well during his time at the Lane, and I too think he deserved more a=of a chance than he got.
Stick with those thoughts Daz... I seem to remember you saying the same thing before the Cardiff match ;)
I thought Brum would tonk us the other week, and expected the same from Cardiff. Oh well, what do I know? Feel free to keep your opinions on that to yourselves:D

i hope we dont get struck by the MOTM curse, we should on form beat them alone. Lets hope we can have some fun in the sun tomorrow........

.......speaking of which, what time shall all be congregating(*sp(dont care if its wrong either, 'tis friday)) at the local?

Congregating is indeed correct :D

And I should imagine we'll be heading off down there at about 12:30... so we'll be outside the Lion about 13:00.

As ever, all forum members should consider themselves urged to come and say hello.

Golden Lion - Alderson Road

Look for the bunch of reprobates.

This is my first season going to quite a few games, as I was ill for a while (cancer)...I've not been to a losing game yet, and only seen 2 draws at home...so I pray my luck continues to rub off on the team!

It would be lovely to join you outside the Lion but I still have a foot of snow in the backyard - just waiting for the Spring thaw/flood. Anyway, give those Blades a scream for me!!!!

Solid win.

Once we went 2-0 up there was no trouble at all.
