I am no Deadbat so wouldn't dream of attempting a match report, there is a decent one on the official United website, but a few things I noticed from today's game at Thorp Arch.
We were by far the better side than a 2-3 score line would suggest. Ben Heneghan, Nathan Thomas and Caolan Lavery played from our first team squad. All played very well. Sam Graham is a big unit, very composed. The team plays very much like the first team, not surprisingly.
Leeds United? Well, a big side of whingers. If their goalie said 'fucking hell ref' once, he said it fifty times, very vocal, which you would say is good, except it was quite often directed at the ref rather than his team. There was a lot of dissent from them, including one of their players on being subbed, booting the spare ball into a neighbouring garden, which was quite amusing. Also amusing was the two Leeds Utd coaches, one speaking English, one Italian, quite bizarre. Quite a few supporters were Italian too, presumably friends or relatives of the young Italian players. Ronaldo Vieira's brother Romario played, fancy Dan.
Another bizarre thing was the ref seemed to know Nathan Thomas, as he called him by his name at one stage.
Chris Morgan was there watching, scouting for Port Vale?
Enjoyed the game and glad our under 23s follow the example of the first team in not surrounding the referee at every turn, unlike Leeds United, nasty team.
