They'd be better off closing all the boozers on West Street.

If they shut the Beer Engine I'll just retreat to my hotel across the road and drink there

Syp decide they can't organise a sock draw to so state you can drink in pants draw. FFS. These fkers are paid by us to keep us safe.

No worry sky said it would be ok.

Bent cunts

Aren’t we all drinking tins on London Road anyway as protest? The Facebook group has north of a 1000 likes/

Wouldn't surprise me if this rumour is true. Like others, i am not sure the SY Police have such powers, but if they do, why did they and the safety committee agree to move to a Friday night?

Of course the SY Police will then complain about the costs to the tax payer to police hooligans, when all they're really doing is policing a sporting event (stolen from twitter)

I think we should close London Road and the ring road roundabout with thousands of boozy blades in response. 2 hour street party like at Wembley before the Hull game in 2014 when they stopped letting in at the green man. The only way to stop this happening in the future is to show the cunts that if we are treated like animals, then we will act like them

Its probably took a group of decision makers from SYP and Sheffield council hours of meetings and wages to this decide this.

It took you under 6 minutes from the thread being posted to realise the (obvious) flaw, write and post your response.

Either they've thought about it and there's something we can't see or, more likely, they're fucking clueless.

Just out of interest would someone tell me what legislation are they using to close down a business. Genuinely interested

only a guess mind, probably under the public order health and safety act...or sommat like that...

In that case if everyone wears hard hats and hi viz jackets they can't shut the boozers
just a thought...:)

(ps..plus the cops would not be able to tell if you were a football fan or construction worker)

Sat morning stir headlines....

"Last night 10,000 boozy construction workers rioted on london road...."

a police spokesman said,
"we had to open the pubs as they wern't footie fans, I don't know what happened, we were expecting bill swilling baby and granny bashing louts not construction workers, one of our officers went to move a safety barrier and they all went ape shit shouting thats not your job, when one of my officers picked a brick up off the road all hell broke loose...he got wacked with a spirit level, another was attacked with a set square..."

Hope that helps....:D

They can use any legislation they want to close the pubs. The next day they can say "sorry we used the wrong legislation". They have form with this, but you can't get back yesterday.

We know it's going to be a disaster ,
They ( pig fans ) know there in for a shoeing so will come marching down mob handed ,
All day gargling , local derby , night game , them showing off at sty , our lot wanting to show them what's , what
I mean , it's not like SYP don't know what's going to happen ,
This has carnage written all over it .
I'm a 190 miles away and can see what's going to happen

Why not go the whole hog and not only dress as a construction worker but also as a Native American, a motorcycle cop, cowboy, sailor and a biker and meet up on Shalesmoor and sing rousing chorus' of "In the Shakey....". Then march over Netherthorpe Road to London Road mob handed and the police will do nothing for fear of them offending the LGBT community?

After the derby the other month they walked in pubs on London Road and told them they were shutting the pubs. No reasoning given, just told them to close. Old Crown was one as I was stood in there at the time.

God knows what regs they can use

It gets worse & worse. SYP at its best here and kicking everyone into the streets near the ground 2 hours before kick-off sounds like a great plan & won’t give the plod anything to do at all.
Clearly they are in total control of things. Just like they were for the ‘successful operation’ in September.
Shit the bed - will they ever get their act together??

If this is true and its still questionable that they could do this then would you forward this to your contact at the FSF? There is supposed to be a meeting taking place between the FSF, SYP and some independent Blades fans group before the next Steel City Derby. It seems to be a lip service exercise as no-one from SWFC seems to have been invited to explain their failings last time out. Not sure if pigs have independent fans group as they're massive.

Perhaps the FSF could ask SYP if their sole strategy in policing football matches in Sheffield is based on the comments from their Chief Inspector on local radio in August when he stated that disorder at football matches is caused by drinking. Forcing Blades out of town centre pubs onto overcrowded trams over 1 hour before kick off last time round seems to confirm this.

SYP need to explain why no other police force in the UK adopts the same tactics. More time will be spent closing down pubs than dealing with potential disorder. Fans will stay out of town until the last minute drinking in their locals resulting in everyone turning up at the last minute with all the potential problems that will cause.

Mind boggling incompetence seem to go cap in hand with SYP, yet no-one seems to hold them to account. Maybe the local hack who posts on here can investigate whether this is true or not as it needs highlighting and questioning in advance of any meetings with the SYP.

Clearly everyone would congregate outside Dempseys and sing rousing chorus' of,"Why Ham See Ya" as the unclean make their way up Arundel Gate to catch their buses back to their pens in Parson Cross and Southey Green following a 5-0 thumping at he hands of the classier team in the city.

Did this after the cheesie game in May ,
No hassle everybody happy , singing and drinking, ok we were stood outside in the sun
I know must have been after the grannie was spat at / had beer thrown at her
How’s that investigation going lads

It would be a ridiculous policy, how many pubs are there within a ten minute radius of Bramall Lane?
Far too many to monitor, whilst also having to control thousands of opposing football supporters that have been inadvertently forced out onto the streets!
I think it’s a bullshit rumour tbh, if Utd supporters are in their usual pre match drinking establishments, SYP know exactly where they are and where the potential flashpoints will be. Leaving them free to concentrate on herding the Swine to and from the ground, whilst half a dozen coppers keep an eye on the movements of Utds rowdy youths.

So United fans get dicked around and treated like shit before the sty game. And now the plan is to dick us around and treat us like shit before our home game.

Don't worry, I'm sure the Star will run a piece expressing football fans outrage about this.

Or at least follow it up with a front page photo of smug desk jockeys for some reason wearing uniforms patting themselves on the back after yet another success.

Now which one will it be?

They'll do what they did on previous occasions, threaten the publican with the loss of his licence. Remember the Cremone?

Anyone who was at the Ball at Crookes for a game at the Sty a few years ago will recall the ridiculous lengths they went too, when there was no trouble and the relief manager told them he was quite happy with matters. (He was told to turn the pumps off and when the copper went out, said "bottles only lads" and did a roaring trade until SYP finally caught on.

Sounds like a normal matchday for Ballinpigpubs13

Idiocy.

Because the game isn’t being played on Sunday lunch time Police need to find another way to inconvenience fans.

This approach won’t stop any trouble, or any one drinking less than they would normally for that matter.

Beer beer we want more beer ,syp couldn't run a p up in a brewery
