Reliably informed this afternoon that SYP will be closing pubs around the ground 2 hours before kick-off. So those of you who can’t get off work early are snookered. Looks like I’ll have 2 hours of sobering up.

To say I’m annoyed is an understatement.

Go drinking in pubs on Ecclesall Road, or Heeley Bottom instead, which will all be rammed with fellow Blades.

Some quality pubs around there and then only a leisurely 10 minute walk to the ground.

Sorted!

So people just drink further away and 30000 people all try and converge on BDT at quarter to eight from all angles and this is easier to manage ??

Its probably took a group of decision makers from SYP and Sheffield council hours of meetings and wages to this decide this.

It took you under 6 minutes from the thread being posted to realise the (obvious) flaw, write and post your response.

Either they've thought about it and there's something we can't see or, more likely, they're fucking clueless.

True, pubs further up towards woodseats,Norton Lees,Gleadless etc all a £6/7 taxi ride.

Maybe we could all stand on London Road with some cans from the shop when they shut the pubs, like the last two times they've made a farce of this?

Nice timing with rush hour traffic too, 2 hours before KO.

I’ve said similar. Unless drinking in the street is a criminal offence then they can’t stop this. Well, they can try but they’re not gonna enforce it.

And will they recompense the pubs for loss of earnings? Because that is a heck of a lot of money missed out on

Think he can miss school that day, we’ll club together for the fine.

I want to go on the school run, just so I can go on it wearing my United and receive dirty looks from the fat, dopey, slovenly looking cunt who struggles to string two coherent words together, and is always dressed in vintage threadbare Sheffield Wednesday leisure wear,

If anyone hears nearer the game the radius from BDTBL this applies to or from previous daft directives any info would help a few of us to plan around it. Thks.

If that’s true, it seems a huge undertaking for SYP to implement and monitor, particularly when their officers will inevitably have to be available to deploy elsewhere at short notice.
Fuck me, they can’t even get the trams to run on time

I didn't think they had the power to randomly order pubs to close if nothings going on. It's not a police state ffs.

The game was moved to Friday because sky already have a game for the Saturday and not enough coppers for the sunday. Hence Friday. It should baffle me that logistically they pick the most inconvenient times for fans unless sky give them a ring.

But it doesn’t.

Can we have a Forum sweep on the actual kick-off time?

I’m just going to go to the pub two hours earlier than I’d originally anticipated, to mitigate any risk of the pub closing early.

It gets worse & worse. SYP at its best here and kicking everyone into the streets near the ground 2 hours before kick-off sounds like a great plan & won’t give the plod anything to do at all.
Clearly they are in total control of things. Just like they were for the ‘successful operation’ in September.
Shit the bed - will they ever get their act together??

It will be 19:45 for sky but they'll hold back most utd fans in a cordon a mile away from the ground until just after kick off to make sure the snortbeasts are safely foraging in their pens first. It worked well for SYP last time and they deemed it appropriate so why change a winning formula.
