Chris Bettney.

Foxy favourite Erik Tønne.

Andy Goram

Also, Andy Goram.

ok, i rememeber when we had dellas, didn't we also have a greek centre mid too who played a couple of games, can't for the life of me remember his name, anyone?? i keep thinking vellios?? but i'm sure that's not it

Dimitris Markos has a game or two on trial.

my mistake he was finnish, i was thinking of lehtinen i think

Ville Lehtinen.

I’d also add:
John Reed (the giveimarun of his day)
Axel Smeets
Bubba Yohanna

Seem to remember an Italian centre half we had for a while on the books but never played round 98/99.
Emanuele Gabrielli! Think it was a few years after 98/99 though. Seem to recall his debut v Gills when Pesh scored a hat trick. Had a steady game and suddenly went fucking mental and flew up the pitch trying to take on the entire team.

Dmitiri Marcos

Justin Haber
Elian Parrino
Ryan France
Erik Tonne
The other Norwegian we signed with him
Kyle Reid

Glen Little
Seamus Conneely
Tommy Black
Peter Hetherston
Alan Fettis (signed with Lee Baxter and replaced him at half time).

Last night I was talking to a Charlton fan who had no idea that Clive Mendonca started his career with us.

And I’d forgotten about Mendonca’s illustrious career with Charlton...he scored a hat trick in the play off final and another hat trick in Charlton’s first game in the PL.

Can't find the last one in a Blades shirt (they never actually played for the first team).

Heatherstone ( came with Agana)
Mark(?) Foran
Irish lad who went back homesick about 1978, possibly one of a pair.
Jim Bone
Cliff Calvert
Denis Longhorn
Anthony Stokes
Horsefield
Flitcroft
Graham Bedstead
Vaughn Ryan
John Ryan
Owen Piggison

Peter Dornan. Came over from Ireland in the mid 70s and was being hyped up as the next George Best. Made a couple of appearances & then disappeared.

That's the one. Got homesick IIRC.
I think he came with another lad who we kept a bit longer as he was crap enough to fit in at the time.

Les Tibbott 78 Appearances , mostly sub standard, had to go to Finland to find his level

totally forgetable
Remember when the players used to kick footballs in to the crowd when they ran out ?

My pitch late 70's was on the rails bang next to the tunnel on John St. I screamed at Lesley Tibbott as he ran out and he ran over and handed me a ball which was sponsored by Redgates. Look it up kids.

Despite being a bit crap I still think fondly of him.

one of the always to be forgotten squad that took us to 2 relegations to div 4
the complete opposite of what we have now, ah miserable days how some in here must miss them

wilko de vogt
iffy onoura
gordon cowans
rob nugent

Gordon Cowans was quality? I remember he got nailed on half way line against Villa in the cup put a huge gash in his shin all 4 sides of the ground stood and clapped him off.. never seen it before in my life I kno he was ex Villa but still. Plus he was only player I’d seen that looked older than my Dad

Whenever I do one of those sporcle quizzes about United teams of the past, I always forget 2 players who played a lot: Leigh Bromby and Bobby Ford.

Ford of course was one of the primary occupants of the midfield black hole that we had for most of a 25 year period stretching from Jamie Hoyland to Dean Hammond and his unseen work.

Other notable occupants of the hole were Brian "Fordy" Howard, James Harper, Paul "did he really play a full season for us?" Thirlwell and Leon "Emperor's new clothes" Britton.

He was a crap fullback but he would have made a wonderful 70s porn star with that beautiful hair perched on top of his noggin and that sumptuous tashe.

A failed footballer but I bet he was king of the porn ring back in the day.
