The older you get, the longer the hangover seems.

Piri Piri Chicken is a thing of beauty.

Lisbon is a beautiful City but too full of Lucky Lucky men and ignorant queue jumping twats.

Coach trips. Do the Portuguese even have such a thing as an MOT?
And.........

They aren't corporate junkets they are fact finding missions, my consultant, a former Government minister said it would be a good idea. The facts from my latest "mission" are as follows.

Can only agree with 2 out 4 of your “ facts “
Piri piri is indeed a thing to behold ,
Being mature I can indeed verify hangovers are buggers and I intend to get a right fucker this weekend when home in Sheffield.
Having never been to Lisbon or on a Portuguese charabang I’ll bow to your greater knowledge on the latter .

Do we need him. I felt that we were in for him because other options didn't materialise e.g. Sinclair

Not too impressed with what I have seen tonight, doesn't look any better than what we have

Him and Fleetwood have been bobbar but it’s only one game and I’ve seen him play much better than tonight on a numerous of occasions, overall, he’s one I’d like us to sign in January.

Told ya, utter bobbar! :)

At the time we were desperate for attackers, now Clarke and Sharp are starting, Brooks has shown he's up to the job of a second striker, we brought in Donaldson, and Lavery and Ched aren't being missed in the slightest. Cole would go right to the back of the queue behind them if he was here and everyone was fit, maybe hang around with Hanson in the can't get on the bench gang. Sometimes if you miss your opportunity it doesn't come along again.

...Hanson and Lavery might not be here in Jan...if Leon carries on as he is, he might not be either :D

What you're missing (as are Utd) is a striker with pace, who is able to get in behind defences, which is exactly what Cole will be able to add (as would Sinclair had he signed). He probably won't walk into the starting XI (not many do!) but he will be a really good option from the bench.

I'm sure Hanson will be on his way in Jan, as may Lavery (who is quick but not good or prolific enough at Champ level) so another may well be required.

Not at all saying Devante is crap, but perhaps if we're still around the top-two in January we might be setting our sights a little higher?

Any suggestions on who may be a better bet than Cole not forgetting that clubs will be reluctant to let their better players go in Jan and they're therefore usually more expensive to buy?

Not saying I have any better ideas than Cole. Just musing and raising the possibility that we might readjust our targets.

A loan move for Nakhi Wells could be shrewd business. Moved at the end of the summer but not had a game for Burnley yet. Decent goal return at this level, good burst of pace, good finisher and, possibly crucially for Wilder, a point to prove to his current employers.

Assuming our current bunch continue as they are, signing Cole for what I suspect will be a minimal fee is a no risk signing.

Not trying to pick holes, simply wondering whether you had certain players in mind. Wells would be a great signing if he's unable to get a game with Burnley. I'm sure he'd have numerous other suitors though, most probably including some Prem sides.

Not sure who is better, but for a lower league striker and there are a number of clubs reportedly watching him, that Danny Rose at Mansfield could be an option

We may have already put the feelers out previously if my memory serves me correct

I think Cole would be a typical Wilder signing. I think any player he set his sights on at the beginning of the season would have been players he thought would be capable of making a push for promotion, since he doesn't really seem to do consolidation.

We don need him, or someone like him in my book.

Hanson will go
Ched may or may not get fit
Lavery is often injured

So, that leaves Sharp, Clarke and Donaldson.

Donaldson impressed and then hasn't. Time will tell, but maybe not a regular starter. You would have to think that Leon's age may catch up with him at some point. At least need resting for a few games.

Also got the option of playing Brooks up front of course.

I may well be miles off but I can see Hanson (perm) and Lavery (loan) going out in Jan with at least one brought in (quite possibly Cole).

Wells scored ten goals in Huddersfield's promotion season and just one in his last 18 games. Is he a bit inconsistent? He's been injured this season and is just returning to fitness. Having paid £5m for him I think Burnley will give him a chance soon.

Cole seems more like a Wilder type signing, but I agree we should also consider other options. We had a trialist striker playing for our U23 team the other day, but he would be more likely to be a development player I think.
