Our first goal today was briiliant but don’t you think it’s weird how our centre backs are overlapping the wingbacks and putting in crosses from so far up the field near the corner flag.

O’Connell normally pops up bombing down the left wing and today that was a great cross from CCV to set up Clarke. Using centre halves as occasional wingers seems such a stupid tactic, don’t think it’s ever been used before.

It does make you wonder why opposition teams haven’t managed to tactical counter or negate our regularly used famous tactic (especially that it’s well publicised and no longer a secret).

Just noticed a similiar thread about Wilder re-writing the fullback role.
So this can be deleted.

Fancy having John Terry or Rio fucking Ferdinand overlapping though. That'd be proper wank.

We've got quality wide central defenders who can do a bit of everything.

I remember Rio Ferdinand occasionally getting up and having a go. Always looked like a arachnophobic giraffe on rollerskates with a spider on each leg.

Compare that to JOC's shot and praise whatever power you believe in.

QPR negated us to some extent as they played 3 attackers and played it long and got us turned a lot. That seemed to cause us problems or more than some teams have.

If I remember correctly, Rio Ferdinand started out life as a centre forward so wouldn't have been too uncomfortable being up there, but I get your point. All of our centre halves have been immense this season.

Chris Basham is fast becoming one of my all time favourite blades players. Captain versatility & exceptionally good wherever he plays. Such a huge improvement since he's been here, especially under Sir Chris.

Maybe I'm being harsh on Rio, but this one is amazing haha

We were poor on the right flank in first half because CCV didn't support Basham enough and Basham not being a natural RWB , looked very poor + made mistakes. In fact the MF stopped bothering to pass out to Basham even when he was in the clear , because he is never going to manage on his own down the right flank.
In the second half CW had clearly ordered CCV to get forward and link with Basham , which is exactly what lead to the equaliser.
Once that went in , it was wave after wave of attacking threat from the right with CVV , Basham & Duffy all being involved on the right.

First half Hull we’re having loads of joy down our right hand side on the counter. Whenever they collected the ball in their half Grotski (?) was pushing into the gap beyond Basham, who lacked the pace to get back. This was pulling CCV out wide and then they were overloading our centre halves with their strikers and midfield runners. I thought this was decent tactics from Slutsky who had identified our weakness.
