Update on Jamal's injury...

According to today's Sheffield Star, Wilder reveals:

“Blackman’s looked a really awkward fall. I don’t know where it’s going to be until we get the results from the experts".

Nothing.

I just find that statement incredibly vague. Surely we must know which part of him is injured? Head, neck, shoulder, arm, ribs? Add to this, the fact that there was no obvious sign from Blackman himself which part of him was injured during the fall, i.e. he wasn't clutching an arm, or a rib, or whatever...I just find the whole thing a bit mysterious.

This reminds me a bit of Matty Done's mysterious "fractured jaw" last season. Which miraculously "healed" in about a week.

Maybe Chris is just playing cards close to chest and is going to surprise us with Blackman back between the sticks on Saturday? Or maybe he just doesn't know and the hospital treating him have no idea either? They've had sufficient time to do some basic tests by now.

In some ways, this is good news, because it's an indicator that there's probably nothing seriously wrong with him. Let's see.

You forget he is not our player.
There'll be no patching up by Chelsea to get him ready asap.
The perils of loan signings I'm afraid.

I reckon he’ll be back on Saturday. One of them mystery injuries - a bit like Matt Done’s broken jaw. Quick healers these lads.

Origin of Playing Possum
This expression comes from a type of marsupial called an opossum. This animal is famous for its defense tactic. Possums pretend to be dead whenever they perceive a threat.

Over time, people began to associate this animal behavior with humans who used this same method to avoid dangers of their own.

There's a lot of it around in The Premiership.

Chelsea whisked Blackman away to get scanned and look at any rehab apparently. At lunchtime today we'd not had an update. That's what Wilder said to us up at the academy. Said he could be ready for Saturday but also might not be. Which to be fair, he might as well as not bothered saying.

I believe he faked injury and threw the ball in his own net, so he could get stretchered off early and then go out on the town with his mates. Nowt wrong with him.

(I don't really think that, but let's pretend I do because it will suit the agenda of some on here).

But you aren't pretending that you don't believe he's injured?

Same with the Matt Done claim. I posted Wilders comments on why he was only out for a couple of games.

Hopefully nothing too serious for Jamal but I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing Moore back between the sticks tomorrow if not. Must have been frustrating for a goalie of his quality to be sat on the bench wondering if he'll actually get any game time whatsoever any time soon

Worry thing is who will be the bench keeper tomorrow?

As there has been no news on Blackman's mysterious injury, I think we can assume that he's not injured and will be in contention today. Whether he will start will depend on whether Wilder feels he is a better option than Moore.

How can we assume that?

I appreciate that one of your many qualities must be the gift of orthapedics by sight. The rest of us mere mortals would assume that falling on your head/shoulders from 9 or 10 foot high, is not right good for you.

Sorry mate, but you are already top of the 'Silliest post of the day' charts.

I'm not sure what you mean tbh.

I thought Blackman's injury was a strange one. And the reason why I say that is because normally when a player gets injured they are clutching or pointing to the injured part. There was no clue at all from the Blackman incident. In fact, he looked like he was asleep when he was in that stretcher, not in pain. I suspected it could be a broken collar-bone, just based on the fact that this is a common break when someone falls like that. But, he didn't appear to be trying to stop his arm from moving - which is the first thing you do when you break a collar-bone, I know well, having done that. Afterwards, I thought he was probably concussed from falling awkwardly. But then several days later, and there is no news of the injury, not even a clue as to which part of the body is injured. There was some speculation by Mr Shield's in the Star that it was his back, but that's not been confirmed as far as I know. So, whatever it was, my assumption is that it isn't serious and he'll be back in contention today.

I don't recall what you posted about Matt Done's broken jaw tbh, but I remember what I posted. We were told that Matt Done had a fractured jaw - something he'd done in training! It's not impossible, but it's extremely unusual to fracture one's jaw playing football, it's usually something that is more likely to occur from fighting. However, that's not the main point. The main point is that you do not recover from a fractured jaw in a few days, as was claimed to be the case with Done. So it was obvious to anyone, with the slightest bit of medical knowledge, that this wasn't a fractured jaw at all. And, I remember someone from the club saying afterwards, "it wasn't exactly a fractured jaw" or words to that effect. A fracture is a break in a bone. It can be hairline or it can be throughout the bone entirely, but it's still a fracture and they still take several weeks to heal. If Done had fractured his jaw he'd have been in no doubt about that at all and he'd have needed surgery more than likely.

That's why I drew a comparison between Blackman's injury and Done's injury and refer to them both as "mysterious" - because there's not been an adequate explanation of what exactly is wrong.

That's all. If people want to make more of what I've said than that then please go ahead.

It's not silly at all. Usually when a player is injured it is widely reported that they are injured and the nature of the injury is stated. "X player out for X weeks (hamstring)" or whatever.

Why don't you inform us then, with your gift of sarcasm, what the injury is?

Usually, yes but by no means always. Your previous posts about not liking him gave the game away so now your use of 'mysterious injury' is presumably meant to somehow suggest he wasn't hurt.

Why don't you inform us then, with your gift of sarcasm, what the injury is?

Like you and everyone else, I don't know the facts.

Your assumed 'no injury' was prejudged to a degree by your antipathy towards the kid.

He was definitely injured at the time of the fall but it’s unusual in this day and age to not know the injury or the extent of it through any of the many media outlets, four days on.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t return to us. Read what you like into that

normally when a player gets injured they are clutching or pointing to the injured part.

they do this as a ham acting staple whenever they feign injury to try and get a free kick or an opponent booked. When people are really hurt, they don't particularly clutch anything do they, it's usually too painful.

I'm sure they'll be some doctors or nurses etc. reading this who can put us right.

So here is my take,Jamal didn't want to play for us any longer because it was to far from the bright lights of London, where he is a big name on the scene,he deliberately dropped the ball and then pretended to be injured, the Chelsea Doctor is in on it,so when he examines JB he gives him a sick note until January and tells United Blackman has got lumbago.
Easy these conspiracy theories no doubt some clown will believe me,

PLUS, as has been repeatedly pointed out, he's been so shit for us ALL SEASON that he's clearly been angling for a rapid return to Chelsea and playing badly on purpose to achieve this.

Absolute gaaaaarbage by the club. Simmonsen or Howard in.

Post 12 on this thread and the accompanying article, which includes a photo of being elbowed in the face at Bradford. Where the injury occurred, not on the training ground. There was no mystery, the fracture wasn't as bad as first thought. As often happens.

So no comparison at all.

Maybe Chelsea are running the show and aren't giving much info out? More likely than there's actually nothing wrong with the kid.

Not the first time there’s been a lack of information like this under the current regime

I like it
