Oh Danny, you are so predictable......oh well, if I must.....the possibility of injury? Depriving us of the player(s)? I'd be happy for both of them as it reflects our progress, but my sole interest in Sheffield United, not whether I have to spell things out to a Junior reporter........next question at the back?

Depriving us of the players? Too long in League One has fried your brain. The Championship has international breaks, old chap. And the possibility of injury isn’t quite a definitive, is it?

Makes note, needs spelling out to junior reporter:- right, where was I, oh yes, firstly, if you choose to cross a line and get too personal I'll not be responsible for reducing you to something that sits comfortably on the sole of your shoe.........wrong again young Danny, any potential injury could cause us to be deprived of the services of a player, it's just that you chose to be pedantic and act like the class twit. In trying to impress with your journo credentials, you've used definitive where definite would have made more sense. Learn your syntax before over-reaching and thinking you're impressing by the use of words that you surmise makes sense.

No, definitive works fine thanks. So no definitive negative impact then? That was my only question. Gotcha :)

In your post #31 you posed two questions, not one. Do pay attention young Danny. Hope you never have to act as a witness in court, your memory seems vague even when you have the time to construct a reply ;)

Good. That means they won't get seen or talked about in an international context or praised on Sky, Talksport etc and we won't have to put up with a thread every other day asking if we can hold onto them in the JTW or the predictable and inaccurate responses of 'they'll go if someone offers £1m'.

Oh, that would be a drop in the ocean. Just wait for the “Brooks is off for a bag of sweets and a friendly” hilarity as Jim White Day draws near. I do hope we get a fax machine gag this year.

The first isn’t a question, if you insist we nit-pick over semantics old bean :)

I think you're stalking for stalking sake's Daniel. I wasn't 'insisting' anything, other than you learn the basics of journalism and the English language.

Nope, just checked, definitely two questions, move on laddie.

They’re both better than England’s current centre mid options, nevermind Scotland’s. I do agree that it’s good for us, but I’m a bit pissed off on their behalf. They more than deserve a shot at international level. Keep the hammer down boys and you’ll get there

One of ours left for pastures new, to get in the Scotland squad. Most of the time he can't on the pitch for his chosen club.

Isn’t that stalking’s sake, then, if we’re talking basics of the English language?

This thread reminds me of the embarrassing argument between Patrick Stewart And James corden

I’d not seen that until now. On topic, I think any international recognition should be welcomed and I find comments like ‘fuck Scotland’ on Twitter etc rather disparaging. The pair are proud Scots and playing for their country - especially in Couttsy’s case at Aberdeen - would mean everything, so to revel in their continued absence doesn’t sit right.

There is also the possibility that the Scotland manager wants them to play a different style of football, I'd expect this to cause a problem when returning to the world of Total Football (not heard that for a while) at Bramall Lane.

Seems that McKay has dropped a few of the regulars and gone for a few uncapped guys but sadly for Coutts and Fleck, they are strong - for Scotland - in centre mid with the two experienced lads of Scott Brown and Darren Fletcher retained. Even if one of both of them retired, you've still got a long list seemingly in front of them: James McArthur of Palace and Charlie Adam from Stoke, Bannan from the pigs, Tom Cairney of Fulham, Kenny McClean from Aberdeen, John McGinn from Hibs, Callum McGregor of Celtic and that's not mentioning Kevin McDonald! All of that long list have been capped recently - minus Charlie Adam, so I don't think we'll see Coutts or Fleck get a call up, unless we get promoted.

As others have said, it gives them a break each international break and they certainly deserve it!
Exactly right Booker, i have been keeping my eye on this situation for some time and sadly it seems they still have a long way to go to even get into the squad. Even though Scotland were poor for many of their qualifiers (particularly at the start of the campaign) their midfield was pretty settled and as you say there now seems to be at least 6 or 7 players in front of them. May change under new management but I think it will take a sustained run in the top 6 or promotion for them to get a call up.

If you call debating with someone about Sheffield United on a messageboard which exists to facilitate debate about Sheffield United, then yes, guilty as charged :D

Danny, now you're fibbing. You and I don't debate, you've seen to that by not admitting you've cocked up on other threads, so don't attempt to appear as if you're being reasoned. You've been caught with your trousers down around your ankles on other threads and you don't seem to have taken this well. Personally, if you attempt to suggest I'm anti any Blade playing for their country you're wrong, see #3 if you question that comment. Having said that my priority will always be SUFC.

I think you're a bit of a nob of that there's no doubt, and to see you make such fundamental errors that then appear in our local paper that actually pays you a wage, well, you clearly have so much to learn....but hey, I forgot, you don't accept you make mistakes (it's called vanity, hopefully it's a passing phase), you just attempt to validate a cock-up as a justifiable reason that makes everything ok, when all it would've taken is an apology from you and that would be that. Unless you want to have the last word (another close relative to vanity) I'm done with this.

Yep, still so much to learn. That’s life after all. But there’s no real correlation between age and intelligence, is there? As for bizarrely demanding an apology... I don’t share your delusions of grandeur. Bringing up what you think happened in other threads when you are challenged on opinions - rather than simply justifying them as the mature, experienced adult you ridicule me for not being - is nothing more than a deflection tactic, and a tedious one at that.

Oh dear....why you feel there's a connection between age and intelligence escapes me. Age and wisdom certainly, but it's nowt to do with intelligence, otherwise I suspect we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Danny, I can point to your validations of what are otherwise clear mistakes. An apology isn't a bad thing, it doesn't make you a bad person, but a reluctance to accept you got something wrong, well that's obstinacy backed up by a refusal to accept you were wrong in the first place. The fact that you refer to this as bizarre only serves to strengthen the view that in spite of a number of similar posts from other forum members you resolutely chose to deny what was obvious to each of those posters.

Even though you wrongly accuse me of what you refer to as deflective tactics. By failing to address your original mistakes we wouldn't be here now if only you'd shown a little wisdom in the first place. Rattle on all you like, but I was just one of many who took you to task for such stupid obstinacy.

Conjure up any number of unrelated excuse that you feel will deflect from the original issue, it's ok, I can see that you're struggling with this and I'd prefer that we didn't go over the same issues over and over. My advice? Give it a rest, otherwise any inaccurate accusations you make will only result in me having to deny and correct you. Remember what I said about knowing the differences between intelligence and wisdom? Well now's the time to take this on board.

As a neutral in this, it appears there's only one you looking like a nob and it isn't Danny04....

Come across very much like your jealous that he's paid for others to read his opinion so you're hell bent on trying to denegrate him at every turn. It's akin to bullying and does you and this very fine forum no favours whatsoever.

It isn't bullying......sorry you feel that way but there's a history to the dialogue that's happened between Danny and myself. As for jealousy, you're completely mistaken. I wrote for the Observer and New York Times to name just two esteemed publications I've contributed to, so how you arrive at the fact that I'm jealous of someone who writes for a provincial publication that just about deserves to be called a newspaper mystifies me. Clearly it's my tone that you disapprove of. Well Danny seems more than able when it comes to finding reasons to justifying himself. As for denegrating Danny at every turn, perhaps if you did a little research you'd find that the percentage of Danny's posts that I've responded to is actually quite small, so where you get the notion that I denegrate Danny at every turn is again puzzling.

Perhaps the answer to much of your post lies in your first sentence where you comment that, "As a neutral in this, it appears that it's only you...".
It's quite possible that because you haven't followed this particular narrative with greater interest and detail - meaning over a couple of threads - then you'd be more informed rather than damning me because Danny has been on the receiving end of a few harsh words. I don't know about you, but enabling someone to wear the label of victim simply because they've been on the end of tough questioning doesn't hold up. Again, sorry if you feel that I've overdone this, but it isn't bullying. It wasn't even Danny's original mistake that vexed me, but Danny's refusal to accept he'd made a mistake and the explanations that followed were misleading and disingenuous, and it was this that I took exception to. There, that's it in a nutshell. If you still wish to believe I've bullied Danny then we'll have to agree to disagree. I won't lose sleep or be persuaded that it's ok to less than truthful or accurate, two qualities that I associate with decent journalistic practice.

Is it just me or is the pre-emptive mocking of a potential up-coming fax machine gag becoming as tiresome as the fax machine gag itself?
