Is it the best ever ?

Agree it is a great kit.

But nothing can beat the simple, classic beauty of this (nor the previous round-collared version).

Without question my favourite Blades kit ever. Simple red and white stripes continued onto the sleeves, plain black shorts, unadorned white socks.

Exactly like that would be great next season. It'd be nice to have the old coat of arms make an appearance too, but there's probably copyright bollocks preventing that.

It's the reason we stopped wearing it, Tyler. The council put some sort of copyright protection on it and we had to remove it.

1975 first season with black trim, the badge: the coat of arms, removed 1977 replaced with the Jimmy Sirrel designed new badge we still wear.
Remember thinking the black trim made us look so cool back then, Admiral btw.1330.jpg
Historically we played our two first seasons in white shirts 1889-91/blue shorts used untill 1904 - details here: http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Sheffield_United/Sheffield_United.htm

There is a lovely "old Sheffield" connection to the shirts saying "Lavers" and "Wards" on them.

My "Wards" shirt is still my fave I think, of all the shirts I have.

Wow. That next year will do for me. Last year was the best I’ve seen in many years, though. A proper Blades kit

Def not Hagan, always credited to Sirrel

Long before Sirrel...

As WalthamstowBlade has illustrated, our badge to replace the coat of arms was already in existence. Players were always expected to attend matches and official functions wearing the club blazer. Jimmy Hagan thought that a badge representing the club should adorn the blazers and came up with the crossed swords beneath a white rose design. The club liked it and used it for quite a few years on the blazers. When Sheffield council informed the club they could no longer use the coat of arms, someone in the club decided to use the Hagan design as the basis for the new club badge. Jimmy Sirrel was manager at the time but didn't have any input into the design of the new badge.

Would love it if we made a decision going forward that we have Red and White stripes with a Black Pin Stripe incorporated, just to set us apart from most, all my favourite Blades kits have featured the black pin stripe.

SO MR ADIDAS RESEARCHER if you are scouring this page looking for design tips take note
