yeah well look at derby only challenged for promotion once since they got promoted 2 years "early" & i know football too much that let say we have a crystal palace start which is very possible. chris wilder will get sacked & i dont want to lose who is on course to be 1 of our greatest managers
It would have to be a given from the fans more than anybody else that CW must have the time it'll take to adapt, it may mean us going up and down a time or two but I'm convinced he can get us there and establish us as a prem team but it will take time.

I've never been one to make comparisons with the pigs.... BUT...

If we were to go up this year, on the back of us winning the league last year, them having 2 separate play off heartaches and spending shit loads of money, I'm not I could cope with how hilarious that would be.

As for not being able to compete, I get the point, but judging by the amount of money some of our rivals in this league have spent, it should be the same here.

It's a deep rooted issue this, and begs the question why anyone actually goes to a football match. My view is that its a lot more basic than getting to the premier league or winning trophies. It's a community thing , a gathering of people all wanting to enjoy a day out and watch an entertaining game with a skill level beyond our own capabilities etc, and even better if the team wins. Football is not all about the premier league, there are thousands of clubs all over the place who play and watch for entirely different reasons to the Chelsea's and City's of this world.
Right now, the conditions that we have at SUFC are better than I can remember since the sixties, and I've never been more proud to be a Blade. My only concern is that all that is good right now will change if we ever get to the Premier League again. That's not to say that I don't want to win every game, of course I do, but pride in your club is worth more than money and status.

I want Sheffield United to win every match they ever play.

Strangely, it seems some people don't. Madness.
With respect mate I think you may have missed the point, and I don't believe anyone has actually said they don't want to win every game.

I agree with what others have said about being deeply conflicted about getting to the EPL. And its not just because of the sour taste left by our previous experiences.

Without sounding too Brexity or Racisty, I like the fact that we are succeeding with a team of British players that I can identify with. And I like the way that what is happening on the pitch reflects what I regard as the best of our national values - honesty, pragmatism, hard work etc. Compared with the play-acting, cynicism and prima donna-ish displays from the overpaid mercenary cunts in the Premiership (management and players), there just feels something fundamentally 'right' about it.

For the belonging.

And for the ritual of it. The travelling to the game with Jr, buying the programme from the usual seller on the usual corner, the click thro the turnstile, the walk up the concourse and down the stand.

I'm loving watching us SO much right now, and I always want us to win. The division we win in, though, is pretty irrelevant to me. I'm sure I'd have a fine time back in the Prem, but I never watch it on the box these days, and loathe so much of it to the very marrow.

Massive media shitstorm about which gormless millionaire didn't shake hands with which charmless twat before or after a game, anyone ?

It’s always good to have challenging but realistic goals. I would like us currently have the aim of becoming and establishing ourselves as Yorkshire’s top club. That would likely mean being in the Prem and at least in the middle third. There is no reason that we can’t get above Huddersfield, or whoever might take their place.

Once that has been achieved and maintained for 3 or 4 years, which may take a bounce up and down from the Champ, then we should aim to be the top team outside London, Liverpool and Manchester - ie 8th in the Prem.

Given a fair wind and sensible, but not ridiculous, investment I think Tufty and Lofty could achieve that for us with a largely British team and work ethic.

The main thing though is not to lose our club again - getting it back has been Tufty’s gift. Investment must be sustainable; character and commitment must be the priority in our play and our players.

The Magic is Back - Let’s keep it

The biggest issue for me would be being cheated out of goals, points, victories. Remembering how angry when an average team like middlesborough got the benefit of poor refereeing earlier this season ruined my weekend.

It is a strange one.

I do totally get people falling out with the PL. It's not just our fans either. The last time we were in this league I spoke to fans of big clubs who felt the same. Ironically one was a Leicester fan :rolleyes:

I'm guessing The shareholders, CW and the players want to get there. No more incentive for the players than going from 5/10k a week, to 30/40k a week, and more. Of course some will fall by the wayside, but that won't be in their thoughts at the moment.

Say what you like about the premier league and being happy with where we are now, but our Chris wants to manage at the highest level and he will. Whether that’s with us or someone else.

The choice then is premier league with Sir Chris, or Championship with someone else. Surely an easy decision for everyone?

I want us to win every single game, so that will of course logically mean the progression to the Premier League. And I’d absolutely love to see what Chris Wilder could achieve in that division, with proper financial backing it could be very exciting indeed. I’m not saying it’s a certainty, but bearing in mind that last season was supposed to be about consolidation then it looks like this season’s consolidation might have the same final result.

They said Fergie couldn’t win owt wi kids.....but he did! They said CW and AK couldn’t do owt in La Liga wi players that were from pub league and below........but he is! CW wants to manage at the highest level and they say that can’t be wi SUFC and his style of play........but he might! Lets dream and support the hell out of SUFC! Dare to dream. There is a saying What the mind can perceive, man can achieve or, in our case, what the supporters can feel, CW will make real! Come On You Red And White Wilders Wizaaaaards!!!!!

CW does and if we as fans don't then he WILL leave (at some point)

We may have to do what Burnley have done and be a yoyo team for a couple of times.

We cannot possibly turn down £100m+ and think just of a possible failure - we HAVE to give it a go.

Sorry, but coming 2nd or in this case being just Championship, is the time I'd pack it in.

CW has the ambition to manage at the top level and we should all go along with it, even if it means failure first time round.

UTB

yoyo team sounds good to me, like West Brom, and not boom and bust like Bradford.

I'd like to see us lift a trophy. That's not beyond the realms of possiblity. That is probably only likely to done on the back of a sustained period of building in the premiership.

I understand people's mindset regarding the premiership but I think we can be there and succeed without selling out; sticking with the current model of bringing in the best and hungriest of the divisions below (which would then become the best of championship) and adding to them with a proven conveyor belt of homegrown lads.

That's got to be the long term aim.

Entitled 'what do YOU want from SWFC' ?

Some of the answers are interesting enough, including some who seem to want what we currently have, but I asked myself what I would want from SUFC, and I'm struggling to improve on what we actually have right now.

I don't even particularly covet the Premier League, there is a part of me thinks that what we have now wouldn't be sustainable if we went up.

Thoughts ?
I would want us to get to the Premier League if only to financially secure the club. I think we'd operate similar to Burnley for example which is fine by me.

If we get to the premiere fine, but European football for me:)

burnley have done it spot on, up and down but stuck with dyche and its paid off steady club with a no bullshit manager .but i think we are bigger and better and can go all the way, like i said at the start of the season chris will go for it its in is dna.:)

Win the FA cup. Go into Europe. Build the largest kop with safe standing in western Europe. Become known as the true home of football. Let Mr McCabe buy Wednesdays ground to redevelop into a soulless business Park as they agree a groundshare and eventual merger with their close neighbours and bosom buddies to form The South Barnsley Dolphin Murdering Dingle Dogs FC (2021). And for them to be scrapping it out with Worksop and Stocksbridge for the Sheffield Senior Cup and receive the points deduction they should have had when the co-op gave in, demotin them into Tier 8, whilst Wilder's Lisbons lions of entirely Yorkshire born players beat PSG 5-4 in front of a world record crowd to lift the Euro Champions League...

Sounds like a plan. Has this classified information / future strategic plan been stolen from Sir Wilder's laptop? Cos I reckon it's a possible goer with CW in charge.

I'd love us to go up but I hate the premier league and all it stands for .

I'm loving the championship after six years away but I'd like to get back to the top league just to take their money.

Think we hit the woodwork twice; Freeman's effort shook the goal frame according to the bloke doing Ipswich's blog. So there, piggies :D
