Now Liverpool interested in Brooks.

Because England only pick players from the top six clubs and if you're playing for a top six club you're valuable whereas Wales will pick anyone who's shagged a sheep.
All sounds a bit woolly to me. Are you sure you're not ba ba barking up the wrong tree?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Ian assure you Brooks wouldn’t be sold without Wilders agreement.

According to reports Brooks recently had this contract extended a further year up to Summer 2018.
So he’s NOT in the final year of his contract and no urgency to sell him this season.
However next season is a different matter, as we might have to pay him more than we can afford or cash in.

My view is that if he continues to impress
Then he won’t be sold this season unless the offers is over £25 million, then I think we’d accept.
Wilder would be fine as long as he gets most of it to strengthen the team.
Can’t see a team offering £25 million though.

If we get promoted this season I think we’ll offer him a massive pay rise.
If we don’t get promoted then I reckon he’ll be sold next Summer for £20 million.
Whilst we’re in the Championship we can;t afford to pay any players £50K a week.

Where are these numbers from? 'If we don't get promoted he'll be sold for £20million'?!

Liverpool joining Everton in showing interest in David Brooks according to the Sunday People.

As the season progresses I expect a few PL clubs to reveal their interest and a bidding war to start in January.

The thing is how much will he be worth by then and will we sell?

Will his head get turned or might he think he can reach the PL THIS season with United?

Wilder says Brooks will be going nowhere but if the bids are in the £15-20m region (and why not) will we hold out?

I can't believe what a player Brooks already is and looks like becoming. The influence he's had on the team this season is massive and dare I say it the play-offs or even higher might just be possible if he stays.

I hope he isn't capped at senior level by Wales because until then he's eligible to still play for England and imagine his value then?

I want him to stay and showcase his talents with US in the Premier League. How we handle the interest in Brooks come January will be pivotal to United's immediate future without a doubt.

How we handle interest in Brookes in January SHOULD be quite simple ............

A polite "he's not for sale" ...... followed by a firm, "which part of he's not for sale was the bit you're not clear about"? should suffice really.

The question is ....... will the Board have grown a pair by then or will they try to fall back on the old tried and tested bullshit that we usually get when we sell one of the family jewels cheaply ..... o_O:eek:

UTB & FTP

Wilder has laid his cards on the table regarding Brooks, and it would not shock me if the club sell Brooks against Wilders wishes, then Wilder will say goodbye too.

I did'nt see David Brooks when he was at Man City, but i think Brooks is a fantastic player.
Ok not sure what that means. Just wondered if you're opinion was formed having seen him last season. Or if you've based it on a handful of league cameos where he's done alright

You've also not taken into consideration what Brooke's wants. If he's offered crazy money a week, a house, flash car, chance to play in the Premiership...he'd be crazy Not to at least think about it.
Now I think he would be better having at least, a year at Championship level. His career tho is in his hands. He can listen to advice from Chris Wilder, from other professionals, but ultimately it is his decision where he will play. I'm hoping he stays with us and helps us eventually to the Premiership.
We can offer him and his parents a flat above the new club shop and a Toyota Yaris to stop his head being turned maybe?

Who is Ian and how come he knows so much ?

Anyway, he definitely needs a pay rise so that he can afford a decent haircut.

At the moment, it looks like his dad did it with a pair of garden shears and a pudding basin over his head.

I'd have given Brooks, Whiteman, Fleck and O'Connell new deals in the summe, as a matter of the utmost priority. Second only to new deals for the management staff. This isn't hindsight, it was repeated endlessly by me and a couple of others in the summer. I was advocating his inclusion in the matchday squad last season, but we were after 100 points - fair enough. We have given new deals to the management staff, and Fleck, Sharp, Coutts,Wright, Basham and signed a number of players ( well done to the club for that). What we may experience now, is difficulty signing up the likes of O'Connell and Brooks due to their championship exposure. This was predictable in my view, and should've been anticipated by the highly skilled football staff. Hopefully the hints at new deals the Star has made, prove to be deals for JOC and Brooks. Hopefully at least three years with no, or very big, release clauses.

You are showing ur age mate , all the youngsters have this hair cut , he looks like a smart young man to me , I would be proud of him if he was mine , but apart from that he is an outstanding footballer and seems to be a nice lad as well,we're lucky to have him , though if we still have him this time next year I will be amazed.

I’m afraid at this point the answer has to be “i kindly refer you to your own stance on Philippe Coutinho. Thanks but no thanks.”

What we can achieve with the current squad knows no bounds.

Not the time to start dismantling the parts.

Absolutely no reason save for horrendous injury that Brooks’ value cannot increase tenfold over the next few years.

Mosfielder at Liverpool or Everton? Look at the queue to get a game.

Fuck your avarice you greedy PL bastards.

Ridiculous argument .We didn't sell him pre season and hes still not scored a goal . All this the board will bottle it and take the money would only happen if we fall in the bottom 3 and need the cash .And if we fall in the bottom 3 Brooks won't have been affecting play

Once again we lose a game; that's one game on the trot and the negs are on it like a rash selling everyone and heaping derision that's totally unfounded. Any player doing half well gets linked toPrem sides struggling.

New for October :

Added to our extensive range of "Angry Rumour" club beating sticks is the new "Brooks to Liverpool" model.

In a price range of £2m - £25m and rising, it's a must for experts of all ages.

All I know is he is really happy at the club. He’s bought a new flat in Sheffield and his mum was praying for the last transfer window to close without him being sold. They are a nice family and definitely have their heads screwed on properly.

That is all well and good but when the big dogs come calling...

Hes playing regularly here and thats also apparently the reason he has opted for Wales.

If he leaves then it will be on CWs terms.

The word "interested".

Meaning:-Showing curiosity or concern about something or someone, having a feeling of interest.

That's it then,just curious.

All this nonsense about Rhodes needs sorting out.

He isn't worth £10 million, he never was, and never will be. Wednesday were foolish enough to pay that amount for him, but it doesn't mean that he's worth it.

What is Brooks worth? As has been said, whatever we are prepared to sell him for.

To use another analogy, you're house is only worth anything if you actually want to sell it. Otherwise it's just your house.

The kid has got potential, and clubs pay big money for potential, but I'd love the owners to make some kind of attempt to reward that potential. Give him an improved contract, which is appearance based, so if he's in the team he is getting top ££.

I would love our club to be ambitious and confident enough to keep him here to get us into the Premiership. The financial rewards that would bring would make the quoted £25million sale (by many on here as the minimum) mere peanuts. Besides that, look at what over £20million spend has bought to championship clubs, not a lot of success yet.

When promoted we must also consider when other clubs wanting to buy him whether they are after him just as a player or by taking him to weaken him as opposition to further their ambitions. Also, David himself should consider whether he would be a bench warmer for a top side. He has. already seen how big clubs like Man City do this to good players himself and many other established internationals. Exhibit : Liverpool paid £40 million for Oxlade Chamberlain to sit on the bench yesterday and to perhaps weaken Arsenal's challenge.

Premiershit clubs havent got an earthly. He's nailed on for either Barca or Real. The kids a magician. Like Giggs he can run as fast with the ball as without out it. Sleight of foot like I have never seen before. Once in a life time this kid.

I'm sure Ryan Giggs did ok and he hardly ever played for Wales.

I'd also argue Gareth Bale has earned more than any English contemporary and struggle to think how you can justify how he'd have earned more by being English? Would Real Madrid pay him more?

Hardly ever played? I’d say 64 caps is playing quite a bit.

"If I was Brooks I’d sign a new contract with United but have some get out clauses just in case he becomes bigger than the club."

All well and good provided his agent is happy with that

We all know how many of those leeches work, so I just hope that whilst Brooksy looks like he's a sensible lad, how will his agent handle things?

As CW said about Sinclair “your agent works for you. Be a man. It’s your decision etc.”
