I find this photo quite sad really. Not picking at you there, but its a real shame he didn't become a better manager than he did and let alcohol get the better of him. Not a peace time league. WW2 didnt end until 2nd Sept 1945 so there were no preparations for the FL to return so we carried on playing in the FLN and won it that season. The only football competition that did make a return in the 1945-46 season was the FA Cup

At least twice - we lost 10-3 at Middlesbrough in November 1933 and 13-0 at the Lane against Bolton in the 1890 FA Cup. Maybe that's why Bolton fans seem to look down on us so much? It was only 127 years ago.
