Real Hatred ?

About 4/5 years in my lads lifetime and he's 30+
 



I cannot really understand the level of hatred in football between rivals or opponents. I enjoy rivalry, banter and wind ups but cannot for the life of me understand how or why that leads to tribalism and hatred.

Some of my favourite people among my family and friends support Wednesday and it makes for great fun & leg pulling. Our unspoken rule though is if you give it out, you can take it when it comes back.

I cannot think of another sport that is cursed with the stupidity & violence that our beloved game attracts. There are lots of other sports that contain violence within the game but it doesn't seem to overflow & involve spectators. Examples are rugby, ice hockey, boxing etc that have a level of rough stuff, but lots of other sport such as cricket do not have this problem, even amongst Yorks & Lancs which has had a fair few rivalries in it's time.

Perhaps the only way to get rid of the tribalism & violence is to identify the idiots that participate and give them life long bans. The clubs and Police both need to get their acts in order to rescue the game.

There are things in this world to hate, a football team isn't one of them even though I give them pelters and spout shite on here.

For me, in many ways football magnifies wider society. Basically, a lot of people are cunts. Whether it's people in a crowd chanting that, or Dads who "would have made it if it wasn't for their knee" on a Sunday who kick off if their lad doesn't get picked or gets subbed.

S35 these days in deepest Chapeltown. Most saturdays you still get the stench of pork from Hillsborough if the wind blows in the wrong direction. And its not the Local Be'res.

But it could have been so different if an uncle told me not to follow the crowd and be different , when i lived at Sheffield Lane Top. 99% pork in the 70's. Leeds or a Blade. The rest as they say is History.

Still though think it ridiculous to say "I hate all of the cunts" when the were 30,000 in the sty of all ages
Hate the club but if anything feel sorry for the fans
Some of the comments surely would mean there are fights and riots every work day which is rubbish
 
I don't 'hate' Wednesday fans en-mass, I have a couple of mates who are football fans that support Wednesday because they were brought up that way, and I would rather them follow their family roots than Don a Chelsea / man u shirt.
However what I do hate are those classless wankers that belittle our great club and have a superior complex without foundation. I have had a select few say we deserved it, and like in the warnock days wish they had a manager with wilders understanding and passion. Unlike the cock munchers that have no graciousness in defeat and spew shit like "once brookes get figured out he will look ordinary ", and "we still have the better team and will finish above the blades" classless wankers that deserve all they get
 
I hate their dismissive attitude towards us and obvious lack respect.........But they're not on their own in thinking we're a "pub team." Last season we were clearly a Championship team playing in league One. When other Championship teams realise that it will get much harder.

Sorry to hear about your mrs. I've got a family member suffering with it too.

As a Wednesday fan I do not hate United in the slightest. Obviously there is rivalry and we are both passionate about our clubs and I like nothing more than beating you on the pitch (though I have forgotten how that feels like) but I have no ill feeling to fans. I have family members and friends who are both owls and blades and deep down were all from the same fucking amazing city.

Thank you mate, I'm sorry to hear about your family member too. There are things in life that are far more important than football. As much as I admire Bill Shankly, his famous quote is wrong.

I do agree with what you say, and wouldn't have it any other way. And whilst the game is not life and death, it's an escape, a leveller. Whatever else you've got going on in your life, there's always Saturday afternoon, for 90 minutes you can put all the shit on hold.
 
It's a mix, I know some pig fans and they are decent, can talk about football no problems. Then you get the arrogant ones who talk crap and have a genuine hatred of Blades, which is why in turn, I hate those fans.
 
My family originated from S2, mum and dad both born within spitting distance of the Lane and our grandparents supported the Blades from the beginning. As most of the council housing in the 30's was built in S5 like many people we moved to Shiregreen. But there was always an enclave of Blades. We even had a coach from the Penguin to take us to home games and even though I might have been the only Blade on the Outer circular going to Derby games I revelled in our superiority. They had Springett, we had Hodgy, they had Swan we had Joe, they had Bronco Layne we had Doc Pace. Yes and we played with passion and commitment. They built a stadium for the 1966 World Cup Finals which has shown to be unsafe and a liability. How they ever won the right to hold the World Cup tournament which never happened is beyond me.

I was carried to a United game played at Owlerton as the lane had suffered considerable war damage
I have or that should be had relatives both Owl and Blades
I will always be a Blade and consider the violence today to be counter productive
I know of parents who have refused to get their offspring to become involved in football

The violence is not needed and I M O it detracts from the involvement of true supporters

90% of my pals are Wednesday fans, they are in part typical Wednesday fans, giving me shit for 6 years etc but what would football be without a rivalry, it would mean nowt. I have not reacted to the pub league stuff just laughed at how daft they sound. I have not gloated about the Sunday roast, the silence that resonated around the sty will keep me going for another 6 years alone! Roll on January!
 



Mum Dad and Sister all Blades.
All my mates at Junior school were Blades (two pigs were just ok,only cos they weren't that interested in footy) all my mates at grammar school were Blades,
all my mates at work were Blades, all my new mates when I moved areas to a new house were Blades, even though it was near full of pigs
Never had a pig GF, full stop or even would countenance the idea .
As the song goes, 'Never felt like shagging a pig'

It really isn't difficult to pick your own friends


But don't get me started at the grade1 twat who my sister married.
He inflicted poison into the family line as far as I am concerned.
