Sensible piggies

I wouldn't say a lot of them were 'sensible' - they dwell on how bad they were and 'how we beat ourselves' (Wendy).

Considering they came to our place, looked dangerous throughout (with a squad assembled on a shoestring) scored 4 goals and could have had more I think it's safe to say they battered us.

A permanent state of denial is their mindset usually, we should be in no rush to adopt it too.

Yes you deluded pig. We lost to Norwich last week and clapped the team off. Wendy lose to a far superior team and go 'Oink, oink, oink' all the way home.

This comment :D

"Yes they did, but with defending like that we'd probably lose to a team from the Fourth.

Van Aken? We'd probably have done better with Van Morrison.

The fourth goal in particular exemplified everything which sloppy defending should be."

they argue with themselves most of the time

in the build up they were going to thump us as they were in their stride and had a team none of our players would get in
suddenly they are defensively naive and would lose to a league 2 team

give credit when its due you arrogant twats
they werent just beaten they were totally embarrassed by a 20 year old an ex player and 2 freebie midfielders

Top marks to Dan Walker, no need to but mentioned it after sports report on BBC breakfast and said well done to the Blades.

They scored 4 against us (and it could have been more) ON OUR OWN PATCH - and their two best strikers weren't even on the pitch ! We sing about the "Boxing Day Massacre" well, get ready, because we've just handed them a memory they won't let us forget.

Fucking too reyt, pal :D

'We had almost two thirds of the possession and the same number of goal attempts, so "battering us" isn't quite true. '

Sorry but what's this got to do with the result. Can we assume that because a team had the most possession they controlled the game? We let them play onto us and keep the ball for long periods of the game but countered time and time again.
Possession only counts when you actually use it productively.

One of the staff at work is a relatively sensible Wednesday fan, he acknowledged that the best team won. He said a hammering had been coming all season but hoped it wouldn't be us! ah bless! He also said that they were arguing and scrapping amongst themselves on the kop towards the end of the game.

This guy is off the scale. Only "properly better" than then for 4 or 5 years in the last 42? Brilliant

One claiming we didn't batter them.....

Only to be put in his place by virtually every response.

I think it's fair to say, boxing day was put to rest.

Would be very difficult for any fan of theirs to argue different .. all oinks I know have took cover & switched phones off ... the one thing with me I try and give an honest report .. if we were shite I say we were & conversely if we were good ppl can I know can take it we were .. I know a lot of neutrals from all over the country through work & England games .. all said what we already knew .. by far better team on the day & totally deserved

No bitterness from me. Yes we were very poor at the back but that steamed from you playing well and putting us under pressure for the majority of the game barring 15 minutes after half time. You more than deserved the victory and you won't hear me saying any differently

I'm not quite sure "battered" is the correct terminology either to be honest. I think "turned over" suits the performance better, as we took everything they threw at us and we threw it right back in their bloody faces.

This is a lovely quote:

You know what got me. It shouldn't, because I'm I a grown man and quite analytical...I knew they were a decent outfit before kick off....but what really got me.

What bites me. Their players were smiling.

From the first whistle. They were smiling.

They were enjoying themselves.

I looked down at one point and that Fleck was sharing a joke with Clarke.

In the middle of the game.

Such a dark, dark day.

Surprised how badly they defended to be honest
My assessment of them before the game was that they are very well blessed in the centre forward department, their strikers only need half chances and I've always thought they were a very solid unit defending doggedly and aggressively but yesterday they looked all over the place at the back and very halfhearted in the tackle

Always rated their keeper but he looked poor as well yesterday

Midfield just seems to be like an extra four defenders trying to work the ball into their forwards without ever really concentrating on keeping possession

Can't see them making the play offs this year

"How it was 2-1 at half time instead of 3 or 4-0 I'm not sure" .agreed we should have had 3 or 4 by half time, but you scored you Fukin numpty, so how could it possibly have been 3 or 4-0.
