Best of luck to him,

Just one thing that annoys me, is the bold statement above

I don't think he got enough of a chance. Good luck to him, and hopefully that's even more off the wage bill.

well what a surprise......ANOTHER winger gone.
Carney, Gillespie, Armstrong, Dyer, Hendrie (for most of the season), cotterill not gettin a look in.....that leaves us with Halford (a right back) and Webber (a striker) on the wings.

I admit that the wingers mentioned werent particularly pulling any trees up, even though some werent given a chance, but we haven't got 1 winger who is naturally gifted anywhere near the 16.

As for the match on tuesday.......I've seen a better performance watching Britney on xfactor!!

If the ball could draw a picture every time it was kicked then we would see a constant rainbow and nothing else because its always in the air.

I've simply got two words for the board: SACK BLACKWELL!!

Let's change formation - we can play 4-0-6. We won't need strikers then and it's not like the football will be any different.

I suggested two different formations the other day, 6-04 or 5-1-4 (With monty in the middle running about)

As for Carney, good luck to him and I hope he can prove Blackwell wrong.

Never got a chance with us. deserved one.

A common theme amongst anyone who leaves/goes out on loan.

He's had opportunities and failed to take them for the most part, had some woeful performances, showed promise, not showed promise and demanded that he went to the Olympics when we wanted him to stay around...

I'd say his loan out was pretty predictable to be honest.

David Carney: I'll be back!

Taken from The Star site.....

SHEFFIELD United winger David Carney has refused to rule-out the possibility of returning to Bramall Lane despite joining Championship rivals Norwich on loan until the end of the season.

The Australia international, signed by Kevin Blackwell's predecessor Bryan Robson, has struggled to establish himself under the new regime and has made just seven appearances since the former England captain's departure almost a year ago.

Carney trained with Bryan Gunn's squad for the first time this morning and despite describing the move as a "great opportunity" revealed another motivation for proving a success at Carrow Road.

He told The Star: "I still believe I can do a job for Sheffield United. It's a great club, a great stadium and I think the fans like me.

"They've always been good to me at least and it would have been good to have been a part of trying to go for the play-offs.

"But I do need to be playing some football because it's been a long time since I did that."

Carney, who has one-and-a-half years of his United contract left to run, added: "I've got a game against Japan coming up for Australia and the coach there told me I needed to be involved at lot more.

"I saw Norwich against us recently and I thought they moved the ball around well which should suit me.

"I'm really looking forward to doing well for them and I'll be giving it my utmost. Then we'll have to see what happens.

"If I go down there and do well then it certainly can't do me any harm.
"Like I say I still think I can bring something to United but the manager (Blackwell) is the most important person and I respect his decisions."

With Blackwell searching for ways to inject more width into his squad - a lack of which he felt contributed to Tuesday night's defeat by Doncaster Rovers - excelling for Norwich should help Carney to press his case.

Certainly, it should enable him to showcase his talents more clearly than remaining in the Totesport.com Central Division where he has spent the majority of the campaign representing United's reserves.

Blackwell's side slipped to fifth in the Championship table last night - one place above Saturday's opponents Preston - following Cardiff's win at Coventry last night.

"It was a frustrating display," Blackwell admitted afterwards. "Now we've got to put that right. It was our first set-back in 10 so, although it will be a tough game, we should still go there confident about our ability."

Carney could make his Norwich debut against Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium tomorrow.

Good luck Carney. :)

was never really impressed with him if i'm honest, one thing he did get right though was the statement when he said blackwell was a long ball manager!!!!!

Come home Carney - all is forgiven

Blades winger David Carney has been warned his temporary loan move to Championship strugglers Norwich City could damage his long-term international career with Australia.

Socceroo Carney has found his first team opportunities limited at Bramall Lane, and was warned by his national coach Pim Verbeek that he should seek a move elsewhere for the benefit of his Australia career.

Rumours surfaced of a January move back to Australia with United's sister club Central Coast Mariners, but eventually Carney sealed a loan deal with Norwich City until the end of he season.

However Carney has made only three appearances from the substitutes bench for Bryan Gunn's Canaries and Mariners manager Lawrie McKinna believes the winger would have been best served returning to his homeland and starring in Mariners' upcoming Asian Champions League campaign.

"It would have been a good move to come here," McKinna told goal.com, "but he and his agent fancied staying in England.

"It's certainly not going to do his international chances any good.

"But players do what agents tell them, and what they think is best."

Australia's Dutch coach Verbeek has previously been highly critical of the A-League - where Carney was plying his trade with Sydney FC before Bryan Robson brought him to Bramall Lane - stating his belief that training with a European side would be more beneficial than playing in Australia's top league.

McKinna, however, disagrees.

"I would have thought that training and playing in the A-League in David's circumstances would have been better," he continued.

"He was playing regularly under (Bryan]Robson and then when Kevin Blackwell came in he didn't fancy him - obviously didn't work hard enough for him."

Carney's appearances for United brought invention rather than industry, and the 25-year-old struggled to adapt to the physical demands of the English game.

He does, however, still have a year to run on his United contract and has previously stated his belief that he still has a future at Bramall Lane - and, as McKinna insists, his talent has never been brought into question.

"Any player who is given the chance to go to a big club like Sheffield would jump at it, and I think David made the right move at the time.

"It definitely wasn't a question of ability - he's certainly good enough for the club.

"He'll get his chance."

Sounds like his agent wants him to stay here for the money...

In really would like to see him in a passing Blades side. A side with a bit more quality to it, as i think he would fit in.
