Obviously I was not at the last game, Canada is a bit too far to hop over at a whim, but I have seen the team play recently and we do have quality players - no doubt. We do not have the 30 million pound player who can rise above the tactics of neutralization that teams throw at one another. The bottom line is that most championship games are not spectacular games - just workmanlike. Given the fitness level of current players and the ability to get in front and harass players which is characteristic of the championship, unlike the stand back and watch of the premiership (they do get more time on the ball) it is not surprising that in many games we see the ball turned over a lot. It is not unique to the blades. Love to see some killer football, but for now I will take winning which I still believe is possible. I believed we would make the playoffs at the start of the year and have no reason to doubt it now. If we do stay in the top 6 and get our game in order for the end of the season we can go up. So, with that in mind it is hard to get depressed, we lost and are still 4th. If we do start playing up to our potential, well there are a lot of points still out there.

Completely disagree. Halford didn't have his greatest game, but he wasn't the worst for bad passing last night. The worst 2 passers for us last night were Quinn and Monty.

I think all eleven were the worst passers really. Picking two out is unfair.

Halford, IMO is quite capable of playing in the middle of the park, he can do the tackling part (probably not as good as monty) but can also do the footballing part (probably alot better than Monty does).

Personally, I don't think Halford is a midfielder in any way, shape or form.

Its not so much the players I was annoyed with last night, it was the tactics more than anything. Doncaster haven't spent a fortune on their team, those midfielders they've got were put together for peanuts. But clearly the work they do on the training pitch counts for something on match days.......

And the irony of that is that many seem to think that simply flashing the cash will be the end to all problems (not saying you mean that), not to mention that we didn't exactly spend like Abramovich when St Neil was in charge. Indeed, the last times we did flash the wad about, it resulted in spectacular failure.

I give you the Kendall epoch where we nearly made it, and the Sornob epoch where we got saddled with a huge wage bill following relegation.

I want to know what we're doing in training to be playing like that......

Fair point.

Given the right coaching and tactics, players like Quinn and Monty would improve and get better......

And by the same token, others may not. It's about achieving the balance, and I still think that both players have a part to play in achieving that balance. The problem as I see it, is that we're not playing to the squad's strengths (your point about tactics, I guess).

After watching 2 appauling performances on the trot I hope to see some changes at Preston. I'd like to see Halford played in the middle, with one of Howard or Hendrie. I'd like to see Danny Webber play upfront, where he belongs, not out on the left where he looks uncomfortable. I actually think, if he's going to play a striker on the wing, it should be Sharp. He works harder than Webber, which is a trate best suited to midfielders and on a few occasions this season hes put some good crosses in.

Well, if Webber could play as an out and out left winger, as opposed to how he actually seems to play which is an attacking left sided midfielder, we might get the sort of ball into the box on which Sharp could thrive. Unfortunately, he can't. I agree that Webber is much more effective up front too, but if he leaves the left hand side, who do we play wide?

Hendrie is now our only choice unless we have a star in the wings.

Sorry, but Halford is not a midfielder, and never has been, and the idea of him in the middle of the park is a worrying one.

if we are lucky enough to scrape the play-offs, we wont go up, as blackwell cant win a big game!

Like Donny or Burnley? These weren't 'big' games, but as important matches as they all are, and I agree, we/he got things all wrong. I'm not papering over the cracks, but pure negativity doesn't help.

Seeing as I've given you my reponses to our performances in 'big' games, would you like to counter them in a reasonable manner, fellow Blade?

The way some of you defend montgomery is pathetic, itsmlike a kid defending his favourate player no matter what he does

Have you thought that perhaps you may be wrong?

when are you going to wake up? we will go NO WHERE with nick fucking montgomery FFS get a grip and a reality check will some of you!!

Monty played 43 times in our promotion season.... would you care to elaborate how this is going nowhere?

The bloke cant play football. end of..

By putting "end of" it doesn't mean you're right.

Weren't you on here not so long back slating people who had a go at players?

Lets look at where our wins this season have come from shall we
