Greg Halford?

Probably the last time we thought having a load of big blokes who were good in the air was a good way to play football.

Think Halford is the last that could be classed as a long throw specialist apart from Kozzy's brief 2nd spell. His throw wasn't quite a slong as Halford or Bromby though.

Really? It's not dinosaur football to have it in your arsenal, is it? A throw in the final third can be as good as a corner. We don't take all corners short, do we?
True but you never hear clubs like Arsenal or Barca having a long throw specialist. It's always teams like Stoke. I suspect it's because you need a real focal point/target man to make it effective and you have to work at it a lot on the training ground instead of working on passing moves. If you spend all week working on defending and set pieces, you end up playing like West Brom.

"Ahh, big man Little man up front long ball forwards, nice long throw, just like the kids in the park, jumpers for goal post, Isn't it...mmm"

I always think it's a good thing to have. The specialists make them as good as a corner. Be great if Messi had a right long throw to go with the rest of his game.

A lot of experts have said that. Some believe that not having a long throw is a bigger flaw in his game than not winning the World Cup with Argentina. Similarly, Fergie was always advising Ronaldo to stop wasting time practising free kicks and concentrate on throwing the ball as high and as hard as possible into the mixer.

Total footballing sides do not use long throws.

Can we train Freeman up?

I remember Pembo's effort to do a somersault long throw against Wimbledon.. completely fucked it up threw ball into ground and in melee to get the ball 2 players were booked ....
