Coutts FA probe

Agree. Was more of a rugby style "hand off". But thought it would have been an issue if spotted.

It was an incredibly stupid thing to do given it would have had the dual effect of jeopardising our chances to equalise on Saturday in addition to seeing him miss Sunday. Doubly stupid given the added responsibility expected of you when you have the armband.

Fucking Norwich.

Who'da thought. I sincerely wish we'd have played Leeds or Millwall instead of them wet sly bastards.

The 'incident' occurred directly in the eye-line of where I sit in the South Stand.

Coutts had the ball and was moving back towards our half and the Norwich clogger that he had disposessed was pulling him back and then put his boot down Coutts' achilles. Coutts put his arm out as if to push him away; not unlike a 'hand-off' that you see in rugby. The Norwich player immediately hit the deck with his hands over his face (presumably in line with team instructions given how frequently it happened on Saturday).

At the same time, however, another Norwich player was already feigning injury on the John Street side of the pitch, and the referee was looking in that direction. Strangely, when the Norwich player involved with Coutts realised that nobody was taking any notice of him, he made a miraculous recovery and jumped up straight away. He was a cheat, basically.

Yet, surprise surprise, now we have an FA probe. Presumably, that is predicated on the usual basis that it was 'an incident that wasn't seen by the match officials' and as such, the FA are entitled to review it. Well, that, frankly is not true. The assistant referee on the South Stand side was directly in line with the incident. It happened 10 yards away from him. He cannot conceivably have not seen the coming together and the fact is that he plainly didn't feel that there was anything untoward at the time.

That said, football is bent, so the FA will make up whatever narrative they want and we can guarantee that Coutts will now be banned for at least 3 games.

It is infuriating that the farce that unfolded on Saturday is looking like derailing our season in the short term. Norwich's approach to the game might well have been at the root of the problems, but the real blame lies with the utterly inept referee, Scott Duncan, who completely failed to impose his authority over the game and, in particular, get a grip of the team that was there to spoil and antagonise from the moment that they arrived at the ground. Let's hope to God, we don't get that cretin officiating any of our games again.

Jeez man up folks.

No-one knows for sure who is and isn't out, and we've got a squad haven't we.

Hopefully Wilder and the players aren't chucking the towel in already.

Look at it this way, there will be plenty of excuses for everyone if we lose.

..not a fan then?
It's not that I'm not a fan. He's just not fit to lace Paul Coutt's boots based on evidence so far. I'm desperate for him to ram those words back where they came with a huge performance on Sunday though. We're gonna need him to stand up

That'll be why he's back up then...

If Coutts is out for three games it's a big miss as he's probably been our best player, but I reckon Lundstram will do ok actually... up to Chris and Alan to tweak the system a little...

Surely if he is banned we just appeal and it will delay the ban anyway.

12 months of no bad luck and look what we achieved! Back to normal now by the look of it :(
Our 'bad luck' has been largely self imposed over the years, Ched withstanding.

We have a few injuries that should hopefully be cleared up by sat and a suspension for a player who should know better.

We have no more bad luck than anyone else.

If we appeal it then any ban won't kick in until the week after as I understand? Maybe I'm wrong
