Didn't realise they were this close;

Played 140
Won 51
Drawn 44
Lost 54

Goals for 174
Goals against 174

We won't mention 1979 but does anyone remember our biggest win, the 7-3 from 1951 ? Over 57000 that day at the Lane according to the stats.

EDIT: and those figures don't add up , bloody wikipedia/soccerbase !!

Just the played figure was dodgy, should be 149, although the fact nothing seems to have been mentioned about this being the 150th, who knows.......

We have won more league games than them, so I'm not sure that's right. They do have the upper hand in cups though.

Yep, think you're right, upper hand in League by 4 but they've done better in cups.

Those stats are wrong unless they include things like the county cup.

In competitive matches to date (ie League, FA Cup and League Cup) the totals are as follows:

P126 W45 D40 L41.

In competitive matches to date (ie League, FA Cup and League Cup) the totals are as follows:

P126 W45 D40 L41.

Those stats include loads of First World War games (Midland Section - Subsidiary Tournament), the Wharncliffe Charity cup of 1891 and the ZDS cup.

So, back to games which are recognised, the Pigs don't beat us on any measures except the 3 League Cup games we've played. We've scored more goals as well.

League P114 W42 D36 L36 F157 A147
FA Cup P9 W3 D3 L3 F14 A13
League Cup P3 W0 D1 L2 F2 A5
Total P126 W45 D40 L41 F173 A165

Top League P84 W30 D27 L27 F118 A111

Having said that our recent record is not very good with just 1 win in the last 8. We need to sort that out.

Correct!

And this article.... http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foot...ear-wait-comes-to-an-end-for-blades-1-8758674

Resident pig Chris Holt emphasizes it was 30 years since we'd done the double when we did it in 1992, "a long time coming" he says. No mention of the fact that at that date it was 1913-1914 since Wednesday had done the double, and since that date the 1991-1992 double was then our 7th in that time frame.

Also no mention that we've done the double now a total of 10 times to their 5.

Bloody hell, the Star is like Orwell's "1984", just re-writing history any way they want.

Shocking! We did the double in 2005-06!

Saw that last week at the SoL and had to explain what it meant to my lad as it was well before his time.
Very funny as was all the Blades flicking the v's at it as they went past

Just incase The Star or the Pigs wanted some more actual real Derby Day stats, then see below for a few more:

  • First of all, lets re-emphasize the actual record in competitive games, because if they want to start bringing in EVERY game we've played, then we can start claiming the 4-1 Steel City Cup game as revenge for the boxing day game:
REAL COMPETITIVE GAMES:
League P114 W42 D36 L36 F157 A147
FA Cup P9 W3 D3 L3 F14 A13
League Cup P3 W0 D1 L2 F2 A5
Total P126 (United) W45 D40 (Wednesday) L41 F173 A165

  • Number of times each team has won the "double": United 10 - Wednesday 5.
  • Longest home or away winning streak: United 6 straight home wins between 1949-1962.
  • Longest winning streak in one sequence: Wednesday with 5 games between 1912-1915. Our best was 4 straight wins between 1933-1938.
  • Largest winning margins in a Steel City Derby (4 goals):
United 5 - Wednesday 1: 1933-1934
United 7 - Wednesday 3: 1951-1952
Wednesday 4 - United 0: 1979-1980
  • Number of times each team has had the highest home gate for the derbies in a season since 1929-1930: United 13 - Wednesday 18. I'm surprised at this given their larger stadium..
However, whats interesting about this, is that since the year 2000, we've each had the highest attendance 4 times. Here are the stats, dispels the myth about their massive support, especially when their gates we're swelled by our 7000+ away following up until they started reducing allocation in 2011-2012.

2000–01 First Division 2 16.12.2000 Bramall Lane 1 – 1 25,156 01.04.2001 Hillsborough 1 – 2 38,433
2001–02 First Division 2 29.01.2002 Bramall Lane 0 – 0 29,364 07.10.2001 Hillsborough 0 – 0 29,281
2002–03 First Division 2 17.01.2003 Bramall Lane 3 – 1 28,179 01.09.2002 Hillsborough 2 – 0 27,075
2005–06 Championship 2 03.12.2005 Bramall Lane 1 – 0 30,558 18.02.2006 Hillsborough 1 – 2 33,439

Glad someone has put the record straight!

I suppose if you're being generous you could also give them their victory in the Zenith Cup match in 1989-90, which was a competitive fixture albeit in a much unloved competition. That brings them a game closer I suppose.

The pig who's updated Wikipedia has made a few convenient errors on his totals and league wins table...

*edit there's also some absolute bollocks hes written with them calling us the pigs because of summat about pig iron. They really are the most massive bunch of blind misguided deluded arrogant fuckwits going...
