Can't fault the lads for the effort and the endeavour today and with notable fit strikers we would have got something out of the game today

But my concern is it all seems to be much of the same, and a pattern seems to be emerging everybody seems to look for Coutts to dictate the play, same substitution Duff for Carruthers, most of our attacks end up coming from the wings.

Just hoping as the season goes on we can learn to win games in different ways with different passages of play and don't get found out

But total appreciate the standard of teams we are playing against

We are very predictable at times and we don't commit enough players into the box.

It's the reason we brought Hanson in last season. A big bloke up front as another option. We didn't really have another option today to try anything other than we did with the players available

I think Wilder's shown enough times that we have a plan B or even C in some games.

The problem today was that the ONLY striker at his disposal out of 6 at the club today was currently 4/5th choice and by his own admission only 70% fit. Surely that's got to effect the realistic options of any manager and you'd expect fans to acknowledge that today's game was under unusual and extenuating circumstances, so I find your post a bit surprising really.

What exactly are you wanting when 5 strikers are unavailable, and the other is at 70% max?

Norwich scored then put 11 men behind the ball

So did all of the teams last year without scoring but we still managed 100 points, just hoping we can find other ways to win when the championship gets wise to how we play

They were a horrible outfit to play against today-had a couple of breaks and scored one fucker (good finish).
Timewasting dirty sly yellow bastards.
Didn't enjoy the lane today at all.

I do agree we overdo the going out to the wings - particularly as even when the cross does beat the first defender we have nobody in the box. We need to run at defenders through the middle sometimes - and get some bloody shots in!

Difference today is that we were a goal down. So they didn't need to come out.

Credit to Norwich, they came and did that, we created a lot and I think that we probably used plans A, B, C and D today, but got nothing. As Wilder says, we kept going and going and going. Can't ask for more than that

Its a bad day, we write it off as that. We weren't outplayed in La Liga.

I think its fair to say that Cardiff and possibly Boro have been better than us, but the rest of the games we've matched or bettered the opposition. Today was our Wallsall.

A defeat one week before the Derby, we'll be up for it, thats guaranteed

We had four bleeding strikers out injured.

How many plans do you want us to have???

Let's not lose sight of today's circumstances.
Plan A was Billy and Clarke
Plan AA is now Billy and Donaldson
Plan B is Brooks behind Donaldson or Clarke
Plan C is Brooks behind Evans
Plan D is probably Hansen
That's not to mention Lavery

You then have Brooks for Duffy or Carruthers for Duffy

You have O'Connell to left back and Thomas or AN other option on the wing.

We have differing plans. We lack some pace but Chris going for three with pace, two failing not because of him and his pacey option injured doesn't mean we have no alternative plans. It just means when you have 19 fit players and your only forward option is one 70% fit striker then your flexibility is somewhat diminished.

We had strikers with a combined 670 career goals sat in the stand watching. What team wouldn't miss that?

This is going to happen a lot when we go behind at home. Better division, better players, better concentration, better professionalism and better organisation. We're going to face that and we're going to have to find ways of getting round it. Brooks, Duffy and Carruthers will be very important in this, but it's the forward movement we were distinctly lacking today. Not surprising given the injuries.

Wilder wouldn't set his team up this way
I know he wouldn't Swiss mate ,
I'm glad out manager likes to play the game as it should be .
Attack is the best form of defence ,
Because 9 times out of 10 you grind teams down and eventually win the game ,
How many games last season did we win late on .

This

There are normally a few options but none were fit today

Agreed with a lot of what you are saying but it's going to be a long hard season I look at the striking area as an example which I feel we should have sorted way before the transfer deadline.

Ched - we must have known he was injured when he signed

Billy - Top striker always going to miss him when he doesn't play but always seems to get taken off around the 70mins Mark. Because he runs himself into the ground running the channels which his not his game

Leon - Probably been injured or out more times than he's actually played his he up for this division?

James Hansen - injured was going to be sold obviously not consider good enough

Clayton - good start to his Blades career a could prove to be a good but hopefully not out for long

Caolan Lavery - Injured still unproven at this level

Not sure if we have recruited well in the striking department for the championship. We are currently an under known quantity to all of the championship which I think is helping us.

Not being critical of the team in any way or Wilder these are just slight concerns which I hope doesnt stop our progression. But you can appreciate what it will be like when we start to lose a few UTB ⚽
