Whipping boy?

No.

It isn't. If you care to read the post, it was all about optimising Sharp. Nothing more.

I think your searching for something that just isn't there.

Hope that helps.

Not really. All the decisions you're criticising are made by him.

I don't WANT to see Sharp dropped,

What I WANT is for us to play to his strengths. Why wouldn't you ?

For clarity, this is not alongside James Hanson or Leon Clarke. IMHO.

Oh give it a rest sunshine.

By expressing an opinion, on a footie forum, does this automatically make it questioning the management ?

Good luck picking everyone up on that. Might take a while !!

Yeah he looked terrible last season whilst playing alongside Hanson and Clarke....

So a " I hate Clarke" thread turns into a "poor Billy" weepathon.

Just wait until all those Sharp haters referred to on here pile in. Be blood and snot all over.

In Wilder we trust, unless he subs our captain, then he's David Weir2

Funny thing about those 'Sharp haters', I've asked several times for names but all I've received so far is silence.

It is obvious that the main reason Sharp went off was to keep him fresh for Norwich on Saturday where he will start again. Clark was left on for two reasons, firstly to help defending which he did, secondly to give him extra game time after his suspension as it is probable that if Clayton is fit, he will start on Saturday and Leon be on the bench.

Your opinion clearly goes back to management decisions. It's them you disagree with, re selections and substitutions.

Clarke is given FAR too much slack for a 5.5 game purple patch at the end of last season.

Just telling it as it is.

He needs to up his game back towards this level. For the sake of the team, I hope he does.

I'll predict he won't do it. I'll also predict that the gaffer will continue to have faith in him. Misplaced faith. IMHO.

Sharp must be foaming to be constantly dragged after 70 mins. Especially when Clarke remains on the pitch. This in particular does not sit well with me. It's detrimental to the team.

Again, all abart opinions.

UTB

No offence mate but your opinion of Clarke isn't "telling it how it is" it's just your own personal view.

People too readily assume that if someone has a negative view point they're a "realist" or "telling it like it is".

Don't mean to single you out, just a pet peeve.

So does his purple patch stretch beyond that what I said ?

I believe Clarke has 7 goals for the club in over 30 games. 6 of which were scored in the 5.5 games at the end of last season.

Taking this out, which of course you can't, it's 1 in about 25 !!!

There he is again, t'owd Fred. Lipstick out, eagerly leg-humping Pete. Bet he was one of those gimps who used to hang about behind the school hards and delivered a 'Yeah!' over their shoulder. You know the type.

Book's on its way Pete. I'll let you know either way. Nothing about £14/£41m/whatever yet though.

Even if Billy is not scoring himself, the close attention that he gets from opposition players gives our others more chance of scoring. Defenders dare not "ignore him" as he will certainly punish them with his own goal scoring abilities, if given only half a chance.

If I may be allowed elaborate on that. Sharp has two defenders stuck to his arse from kick-off which means were are effectively playing 10 vs 9 men. Teams such as Bolton shit themselves when they see his name on the teamsheet.

Jeez, only a joke, no need to lose your mind over it.

From what I imagine was meant as a light hearted OP, the thread has turned into a big argument about the virtues of our strikers.

From what I've seen so far this season, I think all our forwards have made excellent contributions. It's clear that the team were not playing to Billy's strengths last night and CW alluded to it in his interview where he said he would have liked to see us play a bit more. I suspect normal service will be resumed on Saturday. To be honest, I don't think Sharp or Clarke are suited to smashed balls over their heads, Billy less so, I've seen Leon cope a little better when the ball has been played up around head or chest height and he's been able to use his strength to shield it and lay it off but he's not going to beat the likes of Wheater to balls over his head. Billy thrives on ball to feet, holding it up, give and goes, and obviously his main strength is finding a yard of space in the box and having that strikers instinct of being in the right place at the right time. I fully expect he will score 20 odd goals this season and for that reason alone, he's worth his weight in gold.

Don't be angry, your book will be here soon.

I'm not. Look. I am laughing at the joke.

Harhaarharhar.

And Fred's funnee doggy humping. Go, boy! Yeah!

He must really love you, Pete!

.........but that is the problem - some see it as a troll/baiting type of OP and rise to it as against taking it as light hearted.

Some have just got to get on with it how they see fit.

At the risk of being accused of humping PeteBlade's other leg, you've hijacked this thread for your own agenda.

There has actually been a decent discussion about Clarke, Billy and a few others but very little personal abuse.

Until you came along, that is...

Hang on. I started this, didn't I?

Think you need to have word with the other leg, lad. Once you've erm .. finished, and wiped it down that is.
