The oldest stadium in the world where the oldest part of the stadium was built in 1973 (I think)
And one of the newest parts of the stadium is about as ramshackle as it gets

No it's not.
Sheffield United started claiming this a few years ago - and it was true back then, because Mansfield Town FC were not in the professional football league. But since they got back into the professional league it is no longer correct. That doesn't stop us keep announcing it though. And I suppose if you repeat something enough times people accept it without questioning it.
Mansfield Town's ground, "Field Mill", is the oldest professional football stadium in the world.
Oh yes it is .......
What's the question again?
No-one ever brings up the MCG. Built in 1853 it pre-dates Bramall Lane. The statement is "oldest professional sports stadium" so I don't know why that wouldn't hold the title. It is complicated, I think the most older grounds can make a claim for earlier sports, but for continuous use professionally, Yorkshire being there from 1855, Bramall Lane probably wins out.

Notice the bit "continuously used by the same club'.
The oldest football league ground that's contuously been used by the same club is Deepdale In Preston.
That's why sometimes their fans will say they have the oldest stadium in the world.
What their really mean is that they are the pro club that has been the longest continuous tenants at the same ground in the world.
PNE have been using Deepdale since 1878 and the ground was built in 1875
United have only been using Bramall Lane since 1889 but the ground was built in 1855 for cricket and had its first football match played there in 1862, well before Deepdale was even built.
Just watched a program, here in Germany, about old stadiums. The three oldest were, 3: Bramall Lane, 2: Mansfield Town's. 1: Hallam FC. Showed the development of the Lane. Interesting, but I always thought the Lane was the oldest stadium still in use.
Yes, and probably some of the teams that amalgated to form United played at the Lane before Preston was formed.Notice the bit "continuously used by the same club'.

I'm surely there's some uniquely long word to explain Leeds in German
Bezirksheißelochmeister.I hope the German commentary spent a lot of time talking about cricket, as Yorkshire used to play at Bramall Lane, and mentioned repeatedly what a bloody disgrace it is that Yorkshire now play in Leeds when they born in Sheffield.
I hope they also explained in German that Leeds is dump and Headingly is a nightmare to get to.
