Just with my niece who is a Sunderland season ticket holder and some other mackems. They said we were the loudest fans they've had at the stadium of light apart from the Geordies!!. Of course we already know this but it's always good to hear from opposition fans!!. They think they're going to struggle this season!!. In wilder we trust. Utb

I'm just pleased that our away support is still standing up for 90 minutes. When that happens, the atmosphere is decent, simple as.

I can confirm that, having been sat in the seating area below the Blades, we were indeed loud and proud. Also the 'only one Bradley Lowery' chant went down very well, even though the natives were VERY restless!
We started to feel very lonely after our 2nd went in and the Mackems left in their droves! :)

Yes, can believe that - at Man U in the 3rd round cup game we were on the upper tier 2nd back row - it's just too high to watch football

I know, I was there. We took my 7 year old niece and she was shit scared at the crush. Mind you she is now a senior manager at Aspinals the luxury leather goods people.

How was there 29k in that ground today, looked more than half empty and that was before we scored.
Said the same. I can only presume thousands of season ticket holders don't turn up.

Sunderland supporters are generally a decent bunch. Anyone who has lived in the north east will tell you it's Newcastle fans who have the delusion of grandeur. They're the Sheffield Wednesday of Tyne/Wear. The salt of the earth, best supporters in the land myth is just that. Total bollocks.

Great performance from the Blades today. We thoroughly enjoyed it, albeit rather quietly, from the East Stand. The away section was an absolute credit to our club.

Always liked Sunderland fans to be honest. Proper club. On the flip side, when they were linked with Wilder in the summer most of their fans knew nothing about him and I remember one saying they thought he was dead - referring to Gene! They know who he is now!

Spot on. However to be fair to Newcastle they genuinely are a massive club. Wednesday are not.

We sat in the East Stand too. Blades support was fantastic. We found the Sunderland Fans to be a friendly lot, but they were not happy with their team. Rodwell was getting pelters, if that is what £60,000 per week gets you, no thank you.

Was amazed at the exodus with 15 minutes to go. We have endured some rubbish in the last 6 years, but at least we stay and support our team.

They're undoubtedly bigger than Wednesday, yes. Their expectations are equally out of kilter though.

I remember a conversation with a Newcaslte fan a few years ago when they were lower mid table around October time. When I asked what I thought they're chances were this season his reply was "yeah, I think we can probably still make the European places."

"Oh no, I meant what do you think your chances are of avoiding relegation?"

He looked at me like I was mental.

They were relegated. Just looking back and it was 08/09.
