Nice picture, which captures Joe Shaw and Brian Richardson very well. JS nicking the ball off the opponent (Liverpool?), BR always looking to cover. The other Blades player, Matthewson never seemed to properly establish himself at the Lane.

Sheaf valley baths absolutely brilliant,I used to torpedo off the top board and get whistled by the attendant to get out as I was apparently put myself in danger, was only about 9 at the time, cup of hot chocolate from the machine and a McGowans toffee bar on the way out.
Spill the beans mate. What happened? As Silent Blade correctly says![]()
Why don't we see toffee bars anymore!!??
Was HIGHLAND TOFFEE when I were a lad!
Great picture. Used to love finding an unbroken biscuit in amongst them. What a find!Woolworths, Haymarket. Loose biscuits sold by weight. Nowt better than an assortment of broken biscuits!

How did that side ever go down?
I only started watching around 1970 so know nothing of the relegation struggle. A team with Hodgy, Badger, Shaw, Woody, TC and Reece was surely far to good to go down? Were there just too many old men or was their some other CheatinAmmers stuff going on?
Went there a few times in the early 60s with future Mrs HBT; it was well past its heyday by then, and nothing like the numbers of people in these pics. What date are these photos from? I seem to remember the temperature of the water was very low; most of the swimmers were Wednesdayites, so it probably helped limit their ability to reproduce.

They too probably failed to reproduce.I think most of these are from the 30s or 50s. Whatever happened to irascible Park Keepers?![]()
I only went to sheaf Valley a couple of times. My local pool was Heeley. Used to have to go there for a bath too!...my parents sometimes hired a bath tub for us instead of the tin bath in the living room at home!! Kids these days don't know they're born.
