No doubt, but due to the lack of overall decent investigative journalism at The Star, it's unlikely we'll ever see anything vaguely close to a good piece about either the Blades or Wednesday. I understand that who you know, and for how long, plays it's part in bringing this about, but the time when The Star may have had decent sport's reporting, enabling anything close to this piece to be considered, well those days are long behind us. It's a shame as I'm still one of those who hoped that my local paper might at least reflect the curiosity of either set of supporters in wanting to know what actually happens behind the scenes at their club.

The whole reason for my post was to identify the irrelevance of The Star to supporters of the Blades. No doubt you'll suggest there were one or two pieces that had merit, well the problem is that I think the horse has bolted, and what could have been a newspaper that tries hard to inform and engage with it's readership, that time has gone. It would have been so easy for The Star to commit to something that got under the skin of what actually goes on at United, but instead the best that's served up is a dreary regurgitating of what The Star struggles to compete with on the internet.

Whatever you feel may have been worth reading in The Star, can you honestly suggest that it had the same relevance and interest as the video piece on United about transfer deadline day? It was light years away from anything The Star has attempted to write about, so maybe it's time to admit that even though The Star is the only local paper that writes about The Blades, it's connection with those fans is tenuous at best.

As I've said before, I'm comfortable about reporting on United 364 days a year, not just on Deadline Day.

It was a superb piece and video, as I have said on here and tweeted. But we'd never get the access; they'd then have to allow RS, Look North et al and there'd be journalists crawling all over the place on Deadline Day. Plus we couldn't agree to not break confidentiality because we'd need to report what's going on as it happens, not just the day after. Will you read Bleacher's preview/report before/from Sunderland, nicksufc?

You were on my ignore list so probably didn't see it. But yes, that's what I did. I also think the story was fair - if a player tweets something relevant I think it's fair game. After all, it was all over here so why not report it?
Trouble is when places report exclusively by using tweets. Which we don't
