Ched's injury

I'm not interested in bringing up the past, but I am interested in this injury. Has there been any update since last week?

Why does every Ched thread end up this way?

What happened to Ched is a male problem that could've happened to any bloke. Some very tall high horses on this thread.

Wouldn't have happened to me for two reasons.

1. I'd like to think I was a bit better than to jump in on a mates, well, whatever you want to call it.

2. I have a face like a smashed ape, the likelyhood of anyone saying yes can only be found using the Hubble Telescope.

I feel sorry for the lad if it is indeed a long term injury. Although he hasnt been at his best in his appearances from the bench, there have been moments where he's looked decent. I was hoping to see steady, injury-free improvement.

Long discussion on Lavery's injury on Wilder's radio Sheff interview today, but no mention of Ched.

Star article with CW says they might consider different approach with Ched as only operating at 75 - 80%. Says they may keep him out until November whilst they try to get him up to speed and over the injury niggles by working with him in a different way.

Has anyone said what the devil is wrong with him yet? I've heard about a niggling ankle injury, I've heard about a hip injury, but I've not heard or seen a single objective medical description of his injury.

This is most unusual.

Most footballers injuries are usually quickly identified as being of a specific cause: e.g. Knee injuries - cartilage, tendons, ligaments,we even get down to specify the specific ligament in some case, such as "Anterior Cruciate Ligament".

But with Ched there seems no such pinpointing of the problem? Which is as strange as it is worrying because it suggests we don't know, or do know, but aren't telling!

Is the lengthy spell out he had catching up with him? Far more likely to get injured going from 0-60 than a gentle approach to fitness, no matter how much training he did at home.

He's been back in game since July 2016 He's scored a handful of goals in last 12 months. I hope we are looking to replace in January.

Remember Clarke went through the same thing last year!

Yes you're right. But didn't we know about Clarke's injury being his ankle? With Ched it seems like it's one thing one minute, then another thing another minute. It says he can't go full tilt. Why? What's stopping him? Ankle pain? Hip pain? Energy levels?

Im thinking he's just not match fit, simple as, and it's less to do with a niggling injury than his general level of fitness and condition and ability to re-adapt to a game he's been out of for years. But I hope I'm wrong and that there's a specific thing that's holding him back because if that's the case the sooner he's over that we have a fit player again.

Clarke was about finding the underlying cause, seems we need to do the same for Ched and get a proper fix.

Is this a good point to highlight that we handed another three year contract to someone that seems to be struggling to get up to match fitness?

If he's still not fit by January I'd look to loan him out to a League 1 side, see if he's able to get fit and stay in form in that loan spell, then reassess in the summer. I predict though that this might end eventually with the contract being "mutually terminated".
