Interesting insight into yesterday

Very different situations. The only way I could see Cole being available for free is due to some clause in his contract.

It sounds like Fleetwood wanted to do the deal in the end but we just ran out of time. Was that deal for 200k plus another 200k after 50 appearances? If so that would've been a very good deal. As Mitchell correctly says, if Cole played 50 times for us, he'd be doing very well.
I think the point as well is that Brayford was not in Wilder's plans.

Instead of paying his wage and him not contribute then you may as well cut your losses. Rather than pay another 600k in wages, as unpalitable as it seems, paying him 200k to leave and saving 400k makes sense.

What did worry me was the phrasing around the 200k for Hansen paying for Donaldson. We shouldn't be hand to mouth after raking in 5.2m minimum rising to 6.4m. We'll still get 200k for Hansen in January, for the same reason we paid money in January for him. Still I'd quite like him in the squad vs Villa to give John Terry nightmares again.

It doesn't worry me in the slightest. It's simply the attitude that many people have who manage budgets. Mrs stringjunior is responsible for budgets of many tens of millions of pounds in her work and this is exactly her thinking given that its somebody else's money.

Agree with you about Donaldson. Just shows that although a deal seems rushed & last minute it has, more than likely, been going on all day.

Have to disagree about your "pot to piss in" quote though. It didn't say we only have 200k/500k/1 million to spend. It just said Wilder said no chance to a certain fee for a certain player.

The way I read it was Wilder decided said player was not worth x amount. Would we not rather it be this way than spending over a players valuation?

I love that this man is in charge of my club

Wilder has tried to sign him 4 times over the years.

BTW. I just love to see our Head Scout have a profile and a presence in the club. At last, yes!!!:D:D

With regards to Sinclair and Quina, didn't we smell a rat sooner? If the deal had been agreed a week earlier why was it dragging on? Why was Wilder still confident that the deal would still be done?

It's not a criticism, it's more a question from someone who doesn't know the details of football transfers.

My point was based on the type of players we were looking to get in. If the same thing happened and we were after Jamie Murphy or Coady (just for example), then it would indicate we were willing to spend half decent money. We were however after unproven/young players which tells its own story!!

Completely agree about Wilder by the way, love the way he conducts himself/the club. Professional, but no shit taken. The best signings this year were his and Knills new contracts. We are in very safe hands.

Agree but there has to come a time when they get a big budget to spend. Hopefully that will start in January and then again next summer.

Too much too soon would be untimely as the spirit of any club can be fragile. Give the current squad the chance to gel and individually step up to the new level and then add quality exactly where needed.

Without funding a step up in January and next summer the momentum could be at risk.

As we are, our new players are a step up from last summer's recruitment and if that trend continues into next summer then we will have a really good squad to compete for promotion. We have signed over 10 players as it is after all but I don't imagine Wilder would ever hope to be regarded as a 'safe pair of hands', he has to be backed if he continues the momentum with big crowds and more TV monies.

For those who want it all now, we all understand the case for that too. Wilder joked about " another £10m from the owners", well it has to come soon before it's too late.

So your calling CW a liar
in this interview he was expecting to get both in as fees had been agreed prior to agents
gazumping it

CW s words

dont you take anything at face value

is there always an underlying conspiracy

Yes in LS26.

I am sure the average Man Utd fan will back Fergie on this ,considering all the success he brought them,,

Fergie is one of if not the greatest manager to ever live, but letting a player go for nothing and then signing him back for a world record fee is a mistake. Even the best make mistakes.

The point is, if you want a player you have to deal with his agent. The agent might be a massive cunt, but sometimes you have to deal with people you don't like in life.

Why do they all leave things to the last minutes of the last day?

Look at Wenger with Sanchez, Lemar et al. Look at Barkley and the desperation of the Champions Chelsea with Oxlade C, Llorente, how embarrassing, how serious even at such a rich club.

Obviously upper parts of a chain need to happen first but if Wenger wanted Lemar why didn't he sort it out earlier and even sign someone else if need be? It's not as though he suddenly found out Sanchez wanted to go to Manchester. More embarrassment and how does it all leave the current Arsenal squad morale?

Love to see business done early in a Window. As for Sinclair wasn't he sat watching us play Derby 5 days before the end of the Window? He saw Bramall Lane rocking, of course he would have loved to be part of it. Watch out for a change of agent.

Pogba at the time if I recall of him leaving Old Trafford had a shocking attitude,Fergie got shut, unable to consider giving in to his demands that he played in the team

So we should have let Sinclairs agent ride roughshod over us?

I know this sits uneasily with you,but United have played a blinder on DD

Yes i asked myself that question, why all this brinkmanship on the last day,its quite obviously only for the betterment of the Agents who are lining their pockets..............this needs sorting Agents should not be allowed to have this much hold on the players they represent

Great article. While some will say 'The agent is only doing his best for his client...' the Sinclair deal shows that most agents only care about their cut, and fuck the client. The only thing that will make it better are blokes like CW refusing to play the game. Unfortunately, most managers are fine spenders of other peoples' money so these 'agents' - who have the morals of an estate agent or dodgy used car salesman - will continue to prosper. You'd hope that Devante's father - Andy - would have been wise enough to steer his son in United's direction, but obviously not. I hope CW and his team will learn from this. It is, after all, the biggest TDD in their careers. May I suggest that, come 22.00 on deadline day, CW takes his team out for that pizza and leave their mobiles turned off. Buying just before closing time gets you the last turkey in the shop.

We, as fans, must realise two things. One, we did our bit in supporting the club in 6 seasons in Division 3. But also, we must 'manage expectations'. Throwing money at it does not guarantee success. Wigan are probably richer than us, but are now back where they belong - the third tier. Ditto Blackburn, the first club to 'buy' the PL Championship.

Watch out for a change of agent.

If the lad was sat at Midland station and didn't have the balls to follow his heart and jump in a taxi to Shirecliffe, then that isn't going to happen.

Presumably he rings his agent when he wants his arse wiping too?

I notice someone said this shithouse was also agent for Sterling and Berahino who are another pair of cry babies who fell out with the clubs that made them. Perhaps he ought to get jug ears Adams in his stable too?

I would have liked McCormack.

54k is a lot of money. BUT today Villa are paying all the 54k, have no loan fee and an out of favour player. Offeting to pay half his wages should have created some interest from them with no other offers.

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. Last season he rang Birmingham to tell them he couldn't get to training because the electronic gates to his mansion wouldn't open & he was trapped. Unbelievable. No thanks.

True story, I used to go out with a bird who once went out with a United player in Bassett's days. She told me he had been pampered all his life and couldn't do the most basic tasks. But while we're pointing the finger at all and sundry, what about the players' father? Where does the parental influence kick in or, like so many things in life, is it 'anything for an easy life'?

Laughable comment in the original article:

Manager's like Harry Redknapp are a dying breed and I reckon must be thankful that they're in the twilight of their careers as I don't think managers of the future are gonna hack it because of days like these.

If anybody is ideally suited to dealing with corrupt, underhand agents, it's 'arry.

That didn't mean we were reliant on selling Hanson to fund Donaldson, but if you can fund an incoming with the sale of an unneeded player, then you do it.
It would have been convenient had we done that, especially considering that Donaldson was intended to be Hanson's replacement.

But because we couldn't get enough numbers in up front Hanson had to stay.

certainly agent for Gabbiadini, Mannone & Borini.

Fergie didn't sign him back did he? So it was a different manager that wanted him.

Turns out Sinclair and Quina's agent, Aidy Ward, is also agent for Sterling, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Berahino among others.

So he'll be fucking loaded.

Which makes his extra 50% demand even more despicable - he cares more about relative pennies for himself than one (and subsequently two) of his young client's careers. Sinclair needed to be playing games and the pure greed of his agent has fucked him over.

I hope Sinclair's thinking about his agent when he's fucking around in the U23s every week. He should sack the cunt.
Sinclair must have changed agent from De Fanti to Aidy Ward after his move from Liverpool then. As you say despicable but he is a very powerful agent.

the video is now on the bleacher report app. Interesting that Heneghans agent is Jake Speight. He was on united books at the start of his career i think. made more of a name for himself off the pitch though. A mate of mine was his drugs counsellor!

What a great read & insight that was , my loathing for agents is now fkg ten fold , the bit that really winds me up is the tail is wagging the dog !!! If the clubs have agreed fees & the player wants to come , why the fk doesn't he say to the agent make it happen ?
If I was Sinclair when I'd spoken to Wilder would you not be asking what he believed the issue was & then rang the agent & said sort it out .
I'd sack the agent off if I thought.he wasn't representing my interests ... fucking parasites

Excellent article. Interesting comment on Cole by Mitchell that he'll have done well if he plays 50 times for us. Maybe just back up to Donaldson.

Wilder smelt a rat on the Sinclair deal. Agent definitely seemed to be the one manipulating there given the deal was agreed with Watford days before.

I think he meant that if any player plays 50 games then he'll have been a success, rather than 'he'll do well to play 50 times for us' kinda thing :)

I've downloaded the app but can't find the video.
