Not sure if serious...

Tongue in cheek...but as i saw mentioned in another thread - we needed pace and didn't get it. He was Wilder's third choice - you could see the disappointment in his interview, and evident in the fact he's only here for the season.

Would you drop Sharp and play Donaldson for Sunderland?

We need to find different ways to win away games and having Donaldson just gives us another option if we need it.If there are games when playing one 'up front' is the best way to get a result, then Donaldson would be the best to do that job.

Some on here seem to be paranoid that every comment is a negative one that is slamming the club. He's not as fast as he once was. That's just a fact. If you want to believe otherwise then fine but you'll be upset when you see him play if you think he's going to outpacing defenders.

Everyone needs to fucking calm down.
Nail on head.

You're right, They really do.

Got Wayne Alison written all over him. Not happeh sorry but he'll be comical to watch. I know I'm being harsh it's just we were linked with a 17 and 22yo and ended up with a has been OAP. Absolute panic buy.

If he does as good a job for us as Chief did, I'll settle for that.

By the way, there' I 'h' at the beginning 'appeh'. - I just looked it up in the Chris Wilder Dictionary of Words and Phrases.

I'm actually happy with the signing yet am feeling like I've called him the worst player we have ever signed simply for pointing out he isn't as fast as he was
I think he's a good signing but what we really needed upfront was some pace, for simply saying a 33 year old bloke isn't as fast as he used to be I feel like I should be supping with JJ and co tonight in the naughty boys corner.

It's quite simple. We wanted two strikers in yesterday; we ended up with one.

Cole or Sinclair as well as Donaldson would have been an extremely good transfer window for us.

Donaldson was third choice IMO

And both are quite fair statements, but when it's in response to a post that stresses the positives of the signing, it feels a touch... negative.

Mine wasnt in response to anyone and was in fact a counter argument against those saying he was a poor signing! For some reason BTL decided to pick up on the one thing that could be seen as negative as I mentioned he wouldn't offer us pace which he won't. There is no point pretending he will surely ?

Maybe it's a case of reigning people's expectations in a bit

He could have been first choice, or he might have been 15th. We don't know that. It doesn't change the fact he wanted two strikers in.

Good point mate, and Wilder made it clear in yesterday's interview that he knows we need pace up front, so it won't be for the want of trying! He'll get this right, but it will be on his terms.

Now then Jon, have you seen CD play?
He's quick, even at 33. Strong too, good feet, brave.
Quite how you work out he's third choice escapes me.
Wilders body language you say?

My post was more to do with Danny's tbh Roy.

Which is fair enough, but I've not seen him play much for the last few seasons, so I'm hoping we'll be pleasantly surprised. The views of other supporters aren't always correct.

If all the posters on this forum played (or are playing) the beautiful game (at any level) it would have been (would be) easy for all the amateur coaches and managers to do the "Wilder 1st check" and eliminate many of them without even seeing them play. Can you guess what that "1st check" would be?

I'll get behind any player pulling our shirt on. Not ripping him to bits but he represents the clubs ambition, everybody happy with that?

No. I'm not but a 33 year old striker is better than no striker and I hope he can deliver. Always liked him as a player when he was younger and by all accounts, he is at least a grafter and gives us a little more depth up top which we desperately needed. Underwhelmed but hoping a sprinkle of Wilder's magic dust will see him do a good job for us.

I predict that within six weeks everyone will be lauding Wilder for a fantastic bit of business and CD will have attained cult status, after he plays a major part in the Blades continued rise up the table and complete annihilation of the Pigs at the rust bucket :)

I've read more than a few posts on here, decrying the limited amount of Championship experience in the squad.

I take it that none of those posters are now having a moan about the age of the new signing?

I was a bit worried, but then I read Big Telly Lad's 50 posts saying everything is ok because Usain Bolt is over 30 too.....

Just watched this. There's another from the season after too. Seems decent and we know what he'll bring to us. Hopefully a bit more pace too.

Night folks. Slightly disappointed like we all are that Cole didn't come but pleased we have signed someone else who is proven at this level as well.

Yep. He was a decent championship striker 3 years ago. Let's hope that's still the case but the evidence to me looks ominous.

I know i'm being irrational. I haven't seen him play. I don't know who i wanted but it wasn't him - i guess i'm being ageist, which is terrible of me. I'm off to retrieve my dummy.

Daz - taking the piss a bit, but how do 'cancel' if you change your mind after starting to type an answer?

With some you have to either fit into the always finding a negative club, or never finding a negative.

The truth is both are as bad as each other and most of us fit into neither.

Jesus Christ we really don't have any money do we.
Were "WE" contributing to the transfer kitty then?, Or is it the same pair of benefactors that made the previous 9 signings this window? 10 signings for us compared with most other clubs is remarkable, even the SUFC of old!

Meh

Could still be good decent signing but he is a player we should have signed years ago.

What? To play for us under Atkins, Weir or Adams? Some good that would have done us.

Give the lad a chance, he hasn't played for us yet.

Square peg in a round hole this lad. Not quite what we wanted but let's shove him in anyway.
