Yes he's 33 but he's only signed until the end of the season.

Don't see the problem personally, he's got Championship experience which according to some is so important. He's a striker, which we are in absolute dire need of according to others. And he's got some pace (or at least he did, I haven't seen him play for a couple of years) so surely this is a good signing for a season as we establish ourselves in this league.

I see this as similar to Hanson's signing last season.

He'll do a job in certain games but is nothing more than a bit of a cog in the machine.

Sorry but propaganda bids that were never going to be accepted to then sign Heneghan, Donaldson and Carter Vickers on loan tells it's own story.

We have a terrific management team but they're being asked to meet the most realistic of expectations with the most modest of budgets for a big club with the huge bonus of a few million in unbudgeted income.

Scored plenty of goals over the years and he's still been playing fairly regularly. I think he's a good acquisition to the squad under the current circumstances. We've got what we've got till January, so let's do what we do best and back whoever wears the shirt.

Best we could do in a bad situation. Got to be better than the prospect of Sharpe and Clarke doing it alone until Jan, with Hanson giving them a 20 min breather in alternative games.

funny i as was talking at 10mins before i wouldve preferred to bring 1 or 2 strikers as cover for billy sharp. so im in 2 minds fantastic that weve got the striker i wanted & we needed. when we were in league 1 he was Brentford. he always stood out as very good player always a handful bit like a lower league drogba but worries me that hes 34
