Sheffield United PLC. said shareholders at Monday's EGM approved the group's plans to issue up to 14.285 million pounds of convertible loan notes.

It is intended that about 10.58 million pounds of the issue will be funded by the rolling over of the 10.58 million existing loan and unpaid accrued interest owing to SDG Caledonia Holdings Ltd. -- a company indirectly controlled by Sheffield chairman Kevin McCabe's immediate family and related trusts -- which falls due for payment by end-August.

The remainder of the funds received will be used to obtain planning permission for the redevelopment of the Fraser's Property KOP stand at Bramall Lane, to underpin investment in the first team and for working capital purposes, Sheffield added.

Well you said it was 300% and you knew that because you'd read the documents and now it's only 4% so that sounds like United have a good deal from where they started.

This is where I should ignore your question and change the goalposts, perhaps throw in an unsubstantiated claim or two...However...

I do believe the 8.5p a share is a minimum offer and is set per quarter... I believe it meets the requirements of being at least the mid market price on the day before cancellation of the listing was announced, so don't see a problem with it.

Would you prefer they paid 50p a share? would this be in the interests of Sheffield United or the shareholders who wish to make money?

I also doubt somehow I can borrow £10million at 1% over base rate with my meagre outgoings, never mind those of a modern day football club. If I can, please show me where as I'd love a bit of that and would fancy my chances of turning it into a profit.

Do we know how many shares McCabe currently has? I'm not all that sure. I do know he had around 209million towards the end of may though.

McCabe controls about 78% of shares,at 8.5p a share even with the credit crunch the funds wouldn't be a problem with the provisors i stated.
