If we're signing a CB permanently then I thought Heneghan from Motherwell would be the best value choice, especially given that no one's guaranteed to displace the current starters.

Don't know why we'd be spending this money on a CB now.

What type's most likely anyway? RCB, CB, LCB? Cartver-Vickers looks like the RCB option, and we wouldn't spend £2m on anyone to compete for O'Connell's place.

I think we're prepared to spend a bit more dosh than suits some people's agenda. Whether we actually spend it is a different matter, of course and depends on other clubs' willingness to sell.
