He's had some stick from me in his earlier time at the club, probably justifiably but Coutts looked every inch the Rolls Rouce footballer we had hoped for. Dictated play, retained possession, metronomic passes sideways and forward. Unless he's injured, he plays.

Both Brooks and Duffy have shown in the past 2 games that further up the pitch they have much to offer. Carruthers, though I have been less impressed with him this year is still a good age and will be in tge mix though perhaps his early season form has him down as impact sub for tge foreseeable future.

We're looking for another midfielder. It may as well be a good one, not just a shirt filler. Let's say we take someone like Joe Ledley.

Where does this leave Fleck?

Do we shiffle everything, play one man up top with Brooks or Duffy off him to allow Coutts, Ledley and Fleck to be accommodated?

Fleck's early season form has been in line with the results I'd say. Glimpses in places, the odd run, the odd display of decent passing and ball retention but not enough yet to suggest last season's heights will be reached.

Down to the player but if Chris does recruit an A lister I can see Fleck being most under threat.

Alongside the Roller for the foreseeable future !

Nothing to see here.

Fleck struggled to make an impact in the early games last season. He gradually played himself into form and from October onwards was consistently excellent. His place isn't under threat as far as I can see nor should it be.

Coutts has adapted better so far - been the best player so far this season. But signs against Barnsley of last season's Fleck returning.

The interesting thing would be if Wilder was to bring a dynamic Coady-type in. Because I can't see the no.10 being sacrificed, nor one of the two up top, nor the 352 being ditched.

So, in those circumstances, you would think one or other of Couttsy & Fleck's places would be at risk. Especially if the signing made were someone of the stature of a Coady, who wouldn't be being brought in to bench-warm. And, on the evidence so far, you would see Fleck rather than Coutts getting demoted IMO.

I understand where the question has cone from, I'd like to see ball see a ball winner in the middle of the park but I don't want to drop Couts or Fleck either and we need a midfielder to link midfield to attack so that's Duffy or Carruthers.

It seems, the only reasonable explanation is to write to the FA and demand that because we spend a quarter of the money some teams do on their squad that we are allowed to play 12 players.

I think we've seen that the Fleck is one of the players that had failed to make the step up in class.

I'd get on the phone to a few mid table league one clubs and see if anyone has a spare 150k.

No
We don't have anyone to put him under threat to start with

AS much as i think everyone's entitled to their own opinion, this is a ridiculous post. He is probably one of first 4 names on the teamsheet

(O'Connell, Bash, Coutts & Fleck)
Basham, really ? I think he's really struggled defensively so far and when Wilder brings in a proper centre half his position is in danger.

Debatable whether hes good enough to start in defence or midfield at Championship level but even if he is hea definitely not in the first 4 names on the team sheet.
