Interesting to see the Ref asking for the penalty being verified by video replay, and it took all of 30 seconds. I really think it should be introduced in all games now.

I think FIFA and or the PL are worried about legal challenges.

Normally referees decision is final (no matter if he made a mistake)
Would people accept that the video replay assistant decision is final (even if he makes a mistake).

You see a few occasions where after watching constant repays the panel on Match of Day can't agree if it was a penalty or not. Some will say the reply showed contact, so it must be a penalty.
Others will say contact was minimal and the player made a meal of it so it's not penalty and the person fouled should have a yellow card, which if it's his second yellow then is sent off by the relay assistant.

It might a game which means a team is relegated.
Would that video relay assistant be expected to reveal his identity?
Would the video assistant be forced to explain their decision?
Would the assistant need to be a former player with playing experience?

Basically some decisions are totally subjective, the video replays helps but can't give the correct answer to every situation. Would there be legal action taken against a video assistant that arguably gets it wrong.

Personally if we accept that the video assistant replays are an aid and not perfect, so some mistakes may still happen then it's a great idea. At least most decisions will be correct and players are less likely to cheat.

If the decision by the video relay assistant is inconclusive then the referee's decision is final

Just watching DCL playing upfront on his doing a very decent job against a Man City defence - he looks exactly what we need along side Sharp.........

He must have come on a bit because he didn't even look good enough to get into Madkins' team the season before last.

Doing oreyt tonight and starting to look like a Prem player

As said in the Brooks thread. Young players need time to gain experience and to help their decision making

DCL and Brooks are no exception

Got to say, he looks the part tonight, good luck to him. What did they pay? 1million? looks a pittance in todays big spending premere league or championship.

Brilliant ball from DCL for Shrek's goal and then he cheats and gets a Blade sent off!

UTB

Keep the faith Kyle - you're a better Blade.

Certainly learnt how to cheat at the top level.

Truly embarrassing. You can get banned for feigning injury and deliberately deceiving the referee, I hope Calvert-Lewin is the first to receive such a punishment after that to teach him a lesson.

Adkins is on the panel for those decisions isn't he

even more impressed with that Holgate, lad from Donny. Looks to be some player

Some good players on the pitch and at times it has been a good game but the premiership antics are fucking embarrassing, yer can keep it..
I absolutely hate seeing that. Everton players were falling over as soon as City went near them, as do many players.
I sometimes wonder if these players manage to walk down a busy street without constantly falling to the floor as soon as another person touches them.

Their young midfielder Davis got booked for doing it early on and Baines did it a number of times, including for Walker's first booking, which was a booking but Baines acted as if he'd been badly hurt when Walker never touched him.
Very disappointed with DCL though. To pretend you've been elbowed in the face when you haven't is very poor.

Mind you, we have players who also fall over a bit easily sometimes. Basham for one.

Reading a thread on twitter with a number of journos talking about WC squad few suggesting DCL could go to Russia in that last man in the squad lets take the young un who won't play role
