Transfers hopeful for next week?!?!

I thought the transfer window was already shut!?! Must be McCabes doing!

Actually says this week ;) but yes, I thought the window had already closed and McCabe is stuffing all that Walker sell on money down the back of his sofa in Brussels

Unfortunately I heard McCabe just spent £6million in Decathlon on some new camping gear. He had the entire U12s squad shackled up and dragging goretex laden trolleys around the aisles apparently whilst laughing maniacally to himself.

Where's your evidence you ask? Well I've just made it up, but where's your evidence it didn't happen?! EXACTLY!

Did he have any artificial grass with him? I hear he loves wasting money on that.....

It clearly didn't, because the Prince was on purchasing duties instead.

Can we just take a minute to acknowledge the fact that they've signed their new contracts.

Bravo. They have thoroughly transformed this club and have it heading in the right direction again. No signing is more important than signing these two for longer and no new contracts are more deserving than theirs. Thank you both.

I'm glad Baldock's going to start and also Lavery, who I thought Wilder might have lost patience with. He deserves another chance.

Wonder who we could be close to signing? My bet would be a striker or winger. I'd also bet nothing happens this week though.

Think baldock will have a big part to play this season, he will fit into our way of playing just nicely. Always rated him at mk dons, gets up and down the line well, composed on the ball and has the extra yard of pace that I think freeman is really lacking at this level. That's not in any way knocking freeman because he was outstanding last season, however I do think he's been found wanting a little this season, especially going forward.

Wilder sounded a bit exasperated on the funds point when Staton pressed him on whether he's got the Murphy/Maguire/Walker cash. "We're always pushing" sounded like "we've asked, haven't got it, but will continue to ask".

That said, hopefully we'll see something happen by the weekend on one of the fronts – be it Lenihan, Leonard, or someone completely unlinked so far.

Really. Very much overrated, we can do better. All a matter of opinion though.

If that's your opinion then fair enough. Personally I thought Coady was brilliant first time around and I'd love to have him back.

Incidentally who do you think is better and a possibility for us?

If I was Wilder I would've put the signing of the contract on the back burner until after the transfer window had closed to make McCabe think:

  • that I mean business
  • that I need you to provide enough funds for us to be able to achieve our goals
  • that I won't be taken for granted just because I'm a Blade.

"Wilder also says he is "hopeful" of making a breakthrough in the transfer market, possibly later this week"

Not exactly filling me with confidence that we're going to be bringing in 3/4 before September, but I'd rather have honesty than bs spin.

I'm hoping it's cunning misdirection and we'll sign a couple tomorrow. He likes his misdirection.

Yes but him signing it already could also mean he's more than happy with the budget he's got?

Either way it's a good thing for us as fans so let's just look forward and hopefully we'll get atleast one or two players in that makes our team better.

You'd turn down a pay rise even though you knew if you were really dissatisfied with the board you could still quit at a later date?

I also thought Coady was acers and skill when he was here before as an attacking midfielder, but my impression was he has been playing deeper for Wolves than when he was on loan with us, which would suggest that he is a replacement/upgrade for Fleck or (more likely) Coutts. Is that really the priority? I'd say another CB and a Championship-class foil for Sharp up top are more pressing priorities. I'd also say that further signings are probably contingent on our moving Brooks on, pure speculation but that's what it feels like we are being softened up for.

I have just listened to his interview with Staton mate and he said he was 'confident' of finalising one before the weekend, just waiting on other moves to happen elsewhere before our player is available. Sounds more promising than Shields lets on.

Hopefully it's a striker, leaving next week to try and finalise a CB/DM and winger.

Conor Cody isn't as good as fleck or coutts

Gotta be Coutiniho
