3 footballing midfielders, OK winning all important we know, but Coutts Duffy and Fleck Wow 3 great footballers to watch. If Coutts had pace he'd deffo be in Prem.

Last time midfield this good Currie was pulling the strings.

Keep it up lads a sheer joy to behold.

If Duffy had the pace of Carruthers I doubt he'd have played below the premier league in his career.

We're lucky to have midfielders that want the ball and can actually use it and a manager that can get the best out of them.

Think Tonge, McCall & Brown would argue that pal.

was much better today and Duffy has to take some of the credit.

Barnsley aren't Boro or Cardiff either but Duffy has a real footballers brain.

Easy win today against average opposition

They are doing OK, but when they smash Liverpool, Pigs and the like as these boys did I'll believe it.

Different times and a different game in many ways. We shouldn't compare. We were blessed then and we are blessed again now.

Coutts is the best and most consistent of the lot for me, but ageee it's so good to see 3 talented footballers occupying that position.

We've come along way since the midfield 2 of Doyle and Montgomery at Hillsborough in 2012.

Tis a simple game, don't overthink it. Nothing to do with being blessed.

If you don't play the game it is simple. If your analysis stops at 11 v 11 game of two halves and 90 minutes then you have it. Fortunately for us Wilder thinks a bit more about the game.

Watch the game against Man U in 1992 (where Deane scored first ever Premier League goal). The difference between then and now is staggering. The quality of the players (this was a Premier League game against the previous seasons Champions) and the quality of the football was woeful. I'd hazard a guess Wilders lot now would piss on both teams from 92. Different game you see. They are fitter, faster and better athletes.

If you don't think we are blessed to have this midfield 3 then that is fine, we can agree to disagree but on the first point you are a mile out.

We are all blessed mate, but TODAY Tonge, Brown, McCall are better than Coutts, Fleck and Duffy - they just are, proven, fact. The game is not anyway different in the few years to say otherwise.

Go on then, how are they better? And saying proven and fact counts for nothing. I'm not arguing that one is better than the other. Because too much time has elapsed to compare. In my opinion of course.

We've got 3 talented lads in there and it is good to see , I still think we need someone with a bit of energy and bite in addition in there to allow them to get there foot on the ball in the last third where they can produce . I think Duffy showed today what he brings to the table .
As BW quite rightly says these lads are doing well but should look to reach the levels that McCall ,Brown,Tonge & Ndlovu produced

They were still quality players, it was just a different era. It was the culture of the game then to still have a few beers and not look after your fitness to the level they do now.

I can't see how our team now would beat a team containing the likes of Cantona, Giggs, Ince, Bruce, Schmeichel, Pallister etc. even with better fitness. They weren't that unfit in the early 90s.

They are better because they did it it in the modern day, you talk as if we are comparing eras, we are not. To say Coutts/Fleck/Duffy etc. are better with no evidence is ridiculous. Listen, I am as enthused as you and I hope the current bunch surpass the trio I am on about, but get real please, they are not at their level today.

Courts = and all respect to him - a shit Stephen Gerrard and that's no disrespect to him

Well according to the Blade sat next to me today, unfortunately, Coutts is the weak link! He never stopped criticising our players all game. I do hope he sits there again next week.:eek:
