Stick with what we have

We do need another centre half but after that I'd be inclined to agree and assess it again in January.

We are well stocked in central midfield and up front despite many not being particularly happy with the personnel up front we do still have a good number of forwards and in Lavery and Hanson (if he stays) we have 2 players different to what we currently have starting and can offer something else.

One thing for certain is we will always be competitive this season, especially at home and I would back Wilder and his team to pick up a lot of wins at home this season to see us safe.

I reckon we need to retain team spirit.

We can always buy new players in January.

There aren't many out there better than we have at minute.

Nothing wrong with team spirit is there? Its more quality we need. Another striker needed, not that there are a lot of options out there, though maybe a prem loan?

Agree to a point but

An attacker with pace improves us and adds another dimention.

A box to boxer, who can tackle as well as play will help us get a foothold in difficult away games

And we are one injury at CB away from not being able to play our preferred formation.

For me these can all be addressed - even if just on loan to give us the best chance of having a positive season.

Really? If Coutts and Fleck get injured who replaces them?

Dont agree - all good teams need to improve and add on what they have - we have not added the power and pace we need to push on - regardless of today's good performance. This is not a negative view - this is what all good/successful teams do.

We need a replacement for Leon as he will be out for at least 3 weeks from suspension and any other reasons in what is yet a long way to go until the end of the season. This is even more necessary as the club have accepted a bid for Hanson already, indicating he may be on his way.

Ironically Leon's best performance this season so far today, back to his standard at the end of last season.

We have a replacement for Clarke in Brooks. Judging by what I saw of him today I think he could do the job that Matty Done did last season. Let him work the channels and leave the box for Billy. The run across the front post for the shot which went off the keeper onto the post was lovely.

Clarke really could have done us a favour today.

As much as we have good players such as Fleck, Coutts, Sharp etc. there are always better out there, sentiment should never get in the way of evolution.

Stick with what we have got = relegation.
We desperately need another striker and some attacking pace.
Today proved that.

Part of having a good team spirit is due to getting results. How do you get results? Quality players!

Many of us said this before today, but you're absolutely right... even if Barnsley were absolutely terrible

Baldock (when fit) will add some much needed pace.
Brookes has pace

I reckon:
  • 1 beast of a CH
  • 1 pacey striker
  • 1 pacey tall box to box middy - we are lacking in the height in the centre.

That should be enough to compete fairly well at this level imo

UTB and bring on the Foxes and Rams :)

Couldn't agree less!

We should be looking for better players to give us more cover at centre half, more aggression in midfield and more pace generally in the team.

The previous two games showed that clearly. We're not a bad team by any means, but why would anyone want to wait till Jan if we can strengthen now?

Don't get too carried away by today's comprehensive beating of Barnsley. We played well but they were very poor.

I would have really liked to take either fleck or coutts off with about 15 to go, to add some energy and tackling to the midfield. Looking at our bench we dont have that kind of player.

To reply to my own statement here  - can we realistically get the positions filled with just 12 days remaining???

Based on what I've seen so far (Boro and today) I think we need a GK, CB as cover and definitely a strong, pacy forward to play alongside Billy. I like Clarke but he will struggle to make a consistent impact throughout a full season and Ched needs this season to get back into it and might be good next season.

Disagree. A minimum of two, ideally three signings are needed in specific areas and with respect to our lads (who are decent footballers with great attitudes) there are plenty of players that would improve us. Wilder will find the ones that fit in well.

We need a strong and athletic centre back, someone that is able to drop into a deep lying midfield role and plug counter attacks and a final flourish would be someone with a little bit of pace and quality in the final third. If we can get at least the first two on that list then we'll finish very comfortably.

No, we need 3 or 4 more as Wilder has made clear in midweek.

Today was very encouraging, in that it shows we aren't going to be playing the likes of Assombalonga and Bamford every week but as Wilder says we aren't just treading water. H'es an ambitious boy you know.

Not many have to replace them with a forward and a centre half. Oh and it was 2 btw

In a way, this is why I agree with the policy of buying hungry up & coming players, rather than established championship players - competing for places rather than being effectively guaranteed place at the expense of one of last years heroes.

Yeah, we still need a brutish centre-half (like Ebanks, but better), a box-to-box-type midfielder, & some more quality up front. But better young & hungry types (like Lundstram) having to fight for their place, rather than players coming in at the top of the pay-scale, expecting guaranteed starts & dragging the team spirit down.
