Remember when we were allegedly looking at him when he was at Mansfield, but it never materialised and he ended up going to Chesterfield instead.

Fast forward a couple of seasons and Hull are wanting 20m for him.

The market is mental.
We could have got him for nowt when he worked in Bert's local Debenhams.

The market is mental but he's one of the most promising options in it. Younger, comfortable on the ball, pace, great range of passing, can play out wide or centrally. He'll end up at somewhere like Tottenham and will look perfectly comfortable in their side.

Hopefully the days of us missing out on every single quality, cheap player on our doorstep are over.

Also shows you the craziness & over-priced place where the transfer market is now ..£20M for a big standard work horse , hardly a creative midfield genius or game changer ... shows how easy clubs 'spunk there moneh ' doesn't it !!

Wonder if mr Mitchell got a %?

As mental as the market is, I still don't believe any of our players would fetch more than a million quid in today's market - and that is quite indicative of the standard of our current squad.

We accept the first offer that comes in usually anyway.

I could probably get a loan and buy some of our squad.

How much do you reckon we'd sell O'Connell for then if someone was interested? Try and be honest with your answer.

If it's not more than £1million then you didn't listen to my last sentence.

Do you genuinely believe that load of bollocks?

Well it is not that often we reject the first bid apart from in the case of Maguire. We still sold him for next to fuck all in today's market anyway.

As usual when we sell a player its a great bit of business because we expect them to be the next shitehouse like Jordan Slew or Diego. We keep clinging on to that to that train of thought while watching the rest of the footballing world pass us by and scratch our heads going "Jeez how much!?!?!!"

Anyway back to the topic: FUCKING £20 MILLION! THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD! HE IS ONLY WORTH A TENNER AND NOWT MORE BECAUSE HE IS SHIT ANYWAY!

Im just sick of disingenuous cunts with agendas.

How do you know?

We signed him for a couple of hundred grand, right? So, moving from league 1 to championship will have boosted his worth slightly, but he didn't even get in the league 1 team of the year last season. It's my contrasting opinion though that you are delusional if you think he'll be worth several million.

Guess that's why we have forums, but how much do you think he's worth??

I really rate Clucas and think he could be great signing for them, plus it's a good move for him. If he continues to perform at the level he has done, and others don't step up, I don't believe it would be a leap to suggest he'll be in the England squad for the summer.

Saw him play for Mansfield in a league cup game at Bramall Lane, thought he was there best player, thought gerrim signed, next thing he was playing for Chesterfield.

O'Connell
Fleck
Brooks

...to name but 3. I suggest if that you value any of these at less than £1m that you stay well away from negotiating any of our future player sales.

And a City pay 50m for a full back

If we'd have signed him and sold him on it would've been for £1m anyway, not £20m. Some on here would even say it was a good deal as well

He's not worth £20m, even in today's market.....however.....

PL clubs and recently relegated ones have the money to pay those fees and that's why clubs are setting those prices. The only reason clubs aren't paying them straight away is because buyer expectations are still adjusting to the realities of where the market currently is.

Add to that the fact that clubs like Hull have parachute payments and rich owners. They don't need to sell so can set a price that is worth selling at.

That's a sad endightment of the current England squad if Sam Clucas is a candidate !!!

I personally think it's unlikely due to the emergence of Chalobah and even more so if Drinkwater moves to Chelsea, but it's a possibility.
Leicester should have signed Clucas when Kante left.

I think Drinkwater's a very average player FB had a good/decent season in title winning team but Kante was the main cog in that midfield if Chelsea are willing to pay silly money for him I think Leicdster will cash in , maybe Conte is trying to pair them up again ? , but Leicester were all about the quick counter with Vardy & Mahrez not the slower possession game of Chelsea.
None of these players are game changers , grafters or work horses yes , ironically the type of player we need in a cheaper form .
I remember Schloes performance at the lane in PL , absolute class , tackled , linked up & showed the other 19 outfield players on the pitch how to pass , find space and show for the ball , in present Monopoly money market what would he be worth ?

I don't believe in players having a true 'worth'.

Players will be bought for what the buying club deem worthwhile to buy the player.

Players will be sold for what the selling club deem worthwhile to sell the player.

We will value O'Connell well over 1 million and probably over 2 million. Therefore we wouldn't sell him for less than 1 million. I really do believe that.

Maybe I am deluded...?
