Well, that was a bit embarrassing

Bad day at the office and only lost 1-0 to the league favourites. Not the end of the world is it? I'm not worried, still plenty of time to bring players in as well. We go again next week. UTB

We've played away at the favourites for the league, gifted them a goal and limited them to two other shots in the game. Not our best performance but if that's the hardest fixture of the season and we deserved to come away 1-1 I don't think we have too much to worry about
Gifted is a bit strong, having played at centre half for years those slow looping balls are a twat to deal with especially when you're going backwards, and more experienced keeper would have claimed that , but I can see the need for coady and a centre half, they beat us in midfield first half Clayton was the difference, but are they the favourite's (not a chance ) anyway other than that on another day would have beaten them

Yes, Boro were a decent, organised side without being anything special going forward, but man that was frustrating.
Pedestrian, predictable and in the main and a far cry from the type of stuff we're used to.
Whether we showed them too much respect or just lacked self belief, I really don't know, but something
Rushed passes, slow, lethargic movement, panicky play, heading when having time to bring it under control, waiting for a man to be closed down before attempting to pass to him, kicking it out when there's time to put a foot on it, all things that happened toneet.
Still love dem Blades though.
Still trust CW though.
Still above W*********y though.
Come on you red and white wizaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrds!!
Think you have overdosed on the idiot pills. Even a cursory glance at the previous 6 years provides plenty of embarrassing performances. Away at a team where 10 of their starting team individually cost more than our entire team and denied a point by nob head linesman and you think it's embarrassing? Seriously you are either a pig (don't think you are) or you are a complete dumbass

Yes, but not at another Blade, and unprovoked, if you don't care to spit bile after that decision, get away from my Club.

Shut up you precious fool. Your club FFS don't make me laugh. You just posted your abuse at a fellow Blade, are you on drugs?
Or refer to the last sentence of my reply to your garbage on the small business thread. You are clearly both.

Men against boys at times FTPE.
The gulf in class was apparent today, but what frustrated me more than anything was the way we ambled about.
It looked like we'd traded our 'go get 'em' approach to a 'we're Championship players now so we'll ease of and do it like the others do'
And the 'men' didn't have a shot on target of note their goal coming from an up and under and a keeper error plus we're was robbed of a deserved equaliser.

Come on pal, we played the favourites and battled them to a standstill. Sure they had the class as you'd expect when they can spend £40m, but for all that, it was almost a perfect away performance but for that twat Lino at the end.

And the reason you think that HB?

Well... I don't often agree with Fanny magnet as I'm sure he's pleased to acknowledge... But..

We have been promoted, we just played a heavily invested in team, we lost by an odd goal and probably should have drawn. Weaknesses in our team may have been identified. We lost (closely) away to of the favoured teams in the Division.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Wilder is proven as a manager who learns from experience. We will be ok in this Division.

As a Blade, I am not embarrassed. Disappointed? Yes. Not embarrassed.

We were robbed of a legitimate point we may or may not have deserved. I'd say deserved. We had 3 excellant opportunities to score,Coutts superb shot and Clarke squandering 2,the latter requiring a simple squaring of the ball for a Ched tap in. We will get decisions for and against. Today a gash lino robbed us. Lets take it out on those sheep shaggers on Tuesday!

Kinell FP (and everybody else) I'm not saying it was like the last 6 years, I am saying that all the great stuff we normally do was missing today. All the hype and going for the record successive win, and measuirng ourselves against the best this division has to offer to see how we might compete.
The truth is we didn't. We didn't even really huff and puff that much either. I, for one, won't be going round to my Wednesdayite neighbour and saying something like, "see, told you we play some great stuff" Truth is, we were lack lustre and made far too many simple mistakes which for me, with the world watching to see our 100 point champions, was a little bit embarrassing.

Dreadful post and couldn't agree less.

We didn't play well but we've just limited the favourites to win the league to 2 shots away from home and they only won because of a disgraceful decision from the lino.

Really don't know what fans like you expect, their squad is worth ten times ours and we've gone there and pushed them right too the end, we not have played brilliantly but embarrassed?? Get a grip.

Behave

The first half was embarrassing. The second was ok. They sat back and maybe allowed us to be ok, but towards the end we were a lot more like our usual selves.

Boro are a good side their pace upfront caused us lots of problems playing balls down the flanks into the space between our CB's and wing backs. They pressed us high up the pitch and didn't give us time on the ball. I also think we showed them a bit too much respect however they pressed us well and forced us into rushed passes. Secone half we looked more relaxed and quicker on the ball. I thought we looked the fitter of the 2 teams with them slowing down and didn't play with the intensity they showed in the first half. For me we played and battled well however, we just lack pace and power upfront. That must be our number one priority getting in a quality striker with pace, along with a centre back. Coutts MOM for me and we should take positives from today as we were robbed of a point. Onwards and upwards utb.

I think it was a case of Utd finally realising that Boro aren't Real Madrid and we could cause em problems if we pushed up a bit.

Too much respect shown today. We will learn quickly though and I'm pleased in a way that we have played thr favourites and have worked out that we are more than good enough to compete. More adventure and bether service to the front lads needed, but i feel pretty positive tonight considering we've just lost.

Yeah, we got schooled for about 20 minutes in the first half. But did we fold? Far from it, the opposite in fact. Slugged it out well in that second half.

Not really able to impose ourselves on them, but did a good job cancelling them out after the break. Pretty much says it all that their defensive midfielder got MOM. Their Galacticos were made to look totally ordinary.

Just think, when Bournemouth went up into this division three or four seasons ago, they lost their first two away games, 6-1 and 5-1.
Fair assessment. Far from an embarrassing performance. Should have had a point.

Not embarrassing in the slightest. To be honest I don't think we have quite acclimatised to the pace of the division yet. Noticed it last week and this, there's not much in it but the two teams we have faced seem to be just that little bit snappier with the ball and in the challenge. We'll get there.

Saw this thread title and thought 'good, somebody having a pop at the officials.' Throughout they looked incompetent and not just one, all three. I think everything has been said about United's performance which was nowhere near bad.

Not at all. I think they did to us what we did to most of our opponents last season.
We'll either work it out or it will might be a long season but we did improve 2nd half :)

embarrassing??? there is a difference between not playing well and embarrassing, don't think you could ever call this team that, far from our best today, but we fought hard, just our passing and movement was a little more sluggish than normal, but the word embarrassing is pathetic

Lost to the better team on the day, but embarrassing? Really? No grey areas in S2 eh?

The only embarrassing thing was the official's badly wrong decision on the "offside" goal.

No mate, the most embarrassing thing of all was the blatant fucking dive to get the free kick. Yes the offside call by the Lino was badly wrong but fucking hell, are you telling me everyone on here cunting the linesman off for cheating is in favour of swan dives by players? If that had been a boro player there'd have been all fucking hell break loose on here tonight.

Was frustrating because we are better then that. First half we had no confidence on the ball and our defenders often took the easiest option of pumping it forward. That's not our strength. The goal was annoying, two individual mistakes. Blackman showed his experience. For me with more in net we don't concede that.
.

I don't blame Blackman at all for the goal, he had to leave his line incase Basham didn't head the ball.......it was the shitty weak header that ended up leaving him stranded and he couldn't have anticipated that.

Disappointed yes but then again we've got more points after 2 games than we did after 4 last season and look how that ended up......UTB.

Wednesday got beat there 3-0 in January against 10 men .That's embarrassing .since then they've spent more money to get back 10 times more than we can afford; how was it embarrassing for us considering we were duped out of a point by a clearly wrong decision

It was a great dive
