Agree with all of that, what you can't escape though is the fact that even Championship fees have gone through the roof. Sometimes there's likely to be a compromise point - say Wilder really fancies player A, and that player A just happens to be valued at approximately £4-5 million more than our valuation. I can hear the arguments that we should look elsewhere, but player A might be the difference between achieving promotion and remaining in the Championship. As many on here will testify to, advancing to the Championship was meant to see the beginning of larger transfer spends by the Prince. A promise was made and so far we appear to have fallen lucky due to the Walker and Maguire add-on fees that we've accrued. Am I out of order, is the Prince still to make his mark and give Wilder the ammunition he needs to compete at this level? I hope I've misjudged matters. But from all accounts the silence that emanates from the boardroom suggests that we've settled into a lengthy period of cherry-picking from the divisions below us. I'm sure Wilder will pick some gems from divisions 1 and 2, but is it a realistic plan if we're to progress, and more to the point, will it eventually erode the enthusiasm of Wilder as it becomes clear that we simply can't compete in the transfer market. That's the biggest concern in all of this, the fact that our manager may just throw in the towel and look for employment elsewhere.
