I did my medial ligament (MCL) a few years ago... it's not half as bad as foing you ACL (anterior).

I was out for just over a month but obviously some are worse than others.

MCL are easier to recover from, I was told, because it's your ligaments on the sides of your knee, so you can start walking quickly and do moderate exercise on them. ACL is back and front so it's a lot harder to recover as you need those ligaments to bend your knee to walk

Just passing on what know. I said UP TO 6 months. I accept what you say. I have no knowledge of recovery time on such matters.

Wouldn't be totally surprised IF it is true re Utd penny pinching. I thought the interview with Wilder on Friday night (shown on Sky) was quite revealing. I thought it was obvious that he looked very frustrated with how long the transfers were taking to complete. I got the impression he was telling the money men at Utd to pull their fingers out and get the job done and it was out of his hands.

It does seem to have been taking an age for Utd to get a few transfers over the line, the latest being the lad from Oxford.

Not saying that transfers are all straight forward, but my experience in working life has always shown that deals (and very complex ones at that - far more.complex than football transfers) can be completed relatively quickly provided there is a genuine will by all the parties concerned to get the deal done. A good start is to get all the parties / stakeholders all together in a room and you thrash out the details. I do sometimes wonder if the 'complexity' of football transfers are a convenient excuse to some. You usually have a selling club, a buying club, an agent, a player, and all have to agree. But it shouldn't be rocket science.

Also, If anyone thinks Utd will suddenly find big bucks in January as well....I think you must be in cuckoo land. Utd are always big on the promise of tomorrow.

I sincerely hope that Utd aren't being 'cheap' at this critical time in our recent history. CW deserves Utd's utmost backing - especially after we receiced the sell on fees from Walker, Maguire and Murphy. All for not unsubstantial amounts - and all of which were not budgeted for.

Back Wilder and get the team strengthening done United - sharpish.

A decent first choice keeper needs the cash splashing on, it's the most important position on the field, we can't afford to get it wrong, we did with Simmo and it cost us our place in The Championship last time.

Realistically we are unlikely to finish top ten next season even with three more signings, but we sure as shit are going to to finish higher than 21st.

Worst case scenario would be about 12 weeks, but its nowhere near as bad as a cruciate tear, could even be a couple of weeks if its only a strain or grade 1 tear.

But perhaps Wilder knew the score at Northampton and had accepted the situation.

He probably thinks he can rely on Utd's boardroom to back him as Utd aren't Northampton and do actually pay their players. Perhaps he just has higher expectations of Utd as a professional entity. He MIGHT be pissed off if certain things have been intimated to him and then when push comes to shove...the promises arent delivered and promises reneged on. I know I would be if I was in that scenario.

There may be nothing in this rumour at all...but there is usually no smoke without fire and CW did look a frustrated figure when talking about transfers - anyone who saw his interview could read between the lines. Let's hope that rumours of frustration on CW's part turn out to be just that and Utd get the players in that CW wants - but it getting quite late in the day to get the business done pre season start.

Blades have been penny pinching from the Dick Wragg days . Difference is with Wilder compared to previous managers , he will not stand for piss taking . Blade or no Blade Wilder will not stand for the money men slow timing and finishing up losing out signing certain players . Loyalty is a two way street and the so called lucky lad ( according to McCabe ) , would no doubt reappraise his future . Wilder will not want failure on his CV due to the money men fucking about , and short and long term we end up in a unnecessary relegation scrap .

Keep Wilder happy and content , add the players HE wants to the existing group , listed in his presentation to the board .

The first game of the season is more important than some think . It sets the benchmark . Last thing we need is a frustrated manager and frustrated fans . Do we ever learn .

Post 177. Standard Fayre for Za recently but seemingly giving up hope because we haven't signed a keeper before the full extent of the injury is known - and therefore no decision have been made over a permanent or loan deal for a replacement - suggests his G string is firmly up his crack at least.
