This proven Championship striker with pace

I don't think Caolan is THAT good. Decent player and definitely something there, good to have around the squad but he's coming up to 25. He's not some young whippersnapper who's going to learn a load of new tricks. That said he's a valuable option and our only genuine pacy outlet upfront.

Pace upfront is what we need. When Done played last year we often looked at our best despite his inability to play football due to his ability to stretch defences and open the game up for the midfield. If we had a Done who could play football and finish I have no doubt we might not even need another striker.

For the record I want Nouha Dicko from Wolves or Dominic Solanke on loan from Liverpool.
Agana was a similar age, done nothing for Watford, and a makeweight in the Kuhl deal, he didn't turn out too badly for us,in ANY of the divisions he played in for us.
Let's see what they do before we write any of em off.
Just my opinion of course.

Fraizer Campbell's just gone to Hull on a free.

Nouha Dicko might be available from Wolves.

Nick Blackman's a very good player when he's on his game.

There will be plenty of young PL players who'd be good loan options. Ashley Fletcher might be one.

There aren't too many about, but it's certainly easier when you remove the 'proven' requirement.

Frazier. Campbell. Really?

If a name appears on Twatter alongside Sheffield United and we don't sign them, it's a disastrous lack of ambition, proof Wilder has no budget and definitively shows we won't sign the proven championship player Wilder never said we needed.

Come on Danny, you're probably less than half my age, you should know how social media works! ;)

I will get the hang of this one day!

Well. Danny. He's. Just. Signed. For. Hull. And. They. Have. A. Much. Bigger. Budget. Than. Us.

As long as he's fit he's a good player at Championship level. Funny how a quiet couple of seasons in the PL equals being shit in many people's minds.

3 goals in 2 seasons is worse than quiet. Panic signing by a club shedding players by the day

He's been at Palace who've usually played one up front, and hasn't started too many games. They've mostly been sub appearances.

Needs to get fit consistently and go somewhere where he'll play regularly. Then we'll see if he can find form again. Football wise Hull might not be the best move for him. Financially I'm sure it is.

How much would Clayton Donaldson cost 700 k is my guess would be worth 2 yr deal ?

Solanke on loan not realistic? Why not? Do you expect him to start for Liverpool? Not gonna happen.

Dicko has since then had a serious injury and Wolves have been bought out, after much better players than Nouha Dicko. So yes I do think we could afford him.

Solanke scored a screamer on his Liverpool debut this afternoon. Shut your eyes, stick your fingers fingers in your ears while humming a random Duran Duran tune.

Solanke on loan? Really?

The first 10 yards are in the head, SAS never had pace but were prolific, do Sharp, Evans & co. have that football brain? We will create plenty, it's the Wilder way, raw pace is not always the answer.

The point was that everyone keeps moaning on here, we need a pacey striker and a striker that's more proven that what we have.

I keep saying name one who's realistic. So I made a thread to see if there actually was someone about. 3 pages in and we have no one as of yet.
People have suggested names. You just don't think they're realistic. Dicko, Blackman, Murphy, Fletcher etc. Fact is we probably aren't going to stump up the going rate for a proven championship striker though so I hope Wilder can unearth a gem from somewhere. I like the look of the kid at Wycombe who had a good scoring run last season. Watkins had just signed for Brentford for less than the suggested £2mil. But the market's crazy at the moment. Birmingham have just turned down £5million for Checking Adams!

Pre Season, the youngsters always get a run out.

the fact being names were being offered to replace what we have , one of which being on your list

My point is that people refer to a lack of ambition because we can't find a "30 goal striker". It's a myth though isn't it - in the past 6 seasons only 5 players have achieved such a feat, with only one doing it at the level we'll be playing next season. In fact, in the past 3 seasons only one has done it across all 4 divisions and we don't really have to bother about signing him do we?

Marsh I quite like your Clayton Donaldson suggestion. Always looked very good at Brentford but didn't he play quite a few games for Birmingham last year, if so I doubt he'd be available.

Isn't it semantics though? Don't people say '30 goal striker' when they mean 'prolific'?

You could prove yourself at one club and be awful for your next club even if it's at the same level. It's about finding players that fit with what the manager wants to do and how to play.

One Championship season and never scored in the Premiership? Hardly proven, surely he needs another successful season and that needs to be in the Premiership?
That isn't what I said though is it?

He's more proven than Dominic Solanke who's never played in England. That's for certain.
