For weeks maybe months now every topic there are at least 5+ comments about us needing a striker with Championship pace, or a proven championship goal scoring record.

But I do not see anyone coming out with any names? So name these players?

So if people could name a striker that is better than what we have ! with pace or a proven goal scoring championship record who wouldn't cost more than let's say £2million.

Fraizer Campbell's just gone to Hull on a free.

Nouha Dicko might be available from Wolves.

Nick Blackman's a very good player when he's on his game.

There will be plenty of young PL players who'd be good loan options. Ashley Fletcher might be one.

There aren't too many about, but it's certainly easier when you remove the 'proven' requirement.

I will accept names of better players statistically than ours that have pace.

This question reminds me of the 'management triangle', with Time, Cost and Quality in each corner. Pick two, because you can't have all three.

We could swap the above variables with something like Proven, Cheap & Young or similar (feel free to suggest other options)

As far as I can tell, there simply is no player who fits the bill for all the qualities we'd like, especially given the level of scouting in the game these days.

There's always going to be a compromise, which is fine, we're a newly promoted team playing in England's second division, not Real Madrid.
The key is to scale our expectations with what's actually realistic, and trust in a management team that has so far shown itself to be excellent.

Jordan graham from wolves wouldn't be that expensive. All there fans Rate him, as Do pundits. Still young 21, but I'd like the 3rd choice at moment. Or tom barkhuizen from Preston, 6 goals in 17 games, came in as a January signing as a winger, and with them losing there manager he could be unsettled.

Fletcher is a good shout

We're in the gamblers market at two million. I trust the management to wait for the right moment to gamble - be it this window or the next. Ironically, "proven" players often prove to be the biggest gambles.

Only brought it up as in every topic people say we need a striker with pace, or that our strikers won't score.

It's not a triangle I'm saying we need an improvement on our strikers and now much have pace.

Had to remove proven as was too unfair even though it's called for in every topic.

Why £2m ? Bristol City have just spent £5m on a striker with average crowds way below ours. However I can understand that we shouldn't really be expected to compete with the likes of Bristol City in the transfer market !

Britt Assombalonga. Apparently we could get him for £2.5m

No idea how 'little' Brizzle outbid the mighty Blades.

Oh, hang on........

Their chairman might just be worth a bob or two (well, $1.89bn actually) :-

Jonathan Leko from West Brom?

Young, quick, tricky, unselfish, good dribbler. Scores feck all but if he sets 'em up, Sharp can bang 'em in.

Piece of piss this football scouting lark. I got all this information from a YouTube clip.

:D:D:D

I keep seeing nick blackmans name come up

hes scored 3 in the last 2 seasons
and people knock Clarke whos ratio buries blackmans

we have some ludicrous posts on here
frazier campbell ,,,, better than what we have

in what time continuum

I don't think Caolan is THAT good. Decent player and definitely something there, good to have around the squad but he's coming up to 25. He's not some young whippersnapper who's going to learn a load of new tricks. That said he's a valuable option and our only genuine pacy outlet upfront.

Pace upfront is what we need. When Done played last year we often looked at our best despite his inability to play football due to his ability to stretch defences and open the game up for the midfield. If we had a Done who could play football and finish I have no doubt we might not even need another striker.

For the record I want Nouha Dicko from Wolves or Dominic Solanke on loan from Liverpool.
